Subject: LILAC BOUQUET ?????

I am loosing my mind. I have asked all the the people I know who might recognize the following lyric's. I heard this song as a child, up the "holler" in West Virginia, listening to WCQK, Cincinnatti, Ohio. I even remember that the disc jockey or the song singer was Wayne Raney.

I believe the name of the song was Lilac Bouquet, but not sure.

Some of the lyric's were: I just opened my bible to bring back old times there's Mother's teardrops on every line, and there on the pages the fragments still lay of a faded blue ribbon and a lilac bouquet. I also remember something about sitting around the white throne.....

I know this is a real song, and will be grateful for anyone who is able to help me find the title and remainder of the lyric's.

You can e-mail me directly at nana.jean@verizon.net

Thank you, Jean

May be a little late to post this but I was looking for this song too... Remember hearing an old preacher sing it..

I opened my bible and it brought back old times
Saw mommas tear drops upon every line
There on it's pages the fragments still lay
A faded blue ribbon and a lilac bouquet.

The orchids so tender the lillys so fair
The blushing red rose could never compare
To my memories of mommy and how she would say
Thank you my son for the lilac bouquet

Here's my transcription from the YouTube video. (See the link above.)

LILAC BOUQUET
As sung by Rev. L. D. Moore

1. I just opened my bible and it brought back old times.
I could see Mama's teardrops upon ev'ry line.
There on its pages the fragments still lay:
Faded blue ribbons and a lilac bouquet.

CHORUS: The orchid so tender and the lily so fair,
Blushing red rose could never compare
To my mem'ries of Mommy/Mama* and how she would say,
"Thank you, my boy/son*, for the lilac bouquet."

2. Birds are still singing around that old home
There in the fields where I used to roam.
Beneath the old trees there's a old lonesome grave.
Angels came calling for my mother one day. CHORUS

3. In the bright courts of Heaven in a beautiful home,
I can see my dear mother around that white throne.
From the garden in Heaven, dear Mommy, someday
I'll pick you another lilac bouquet. CHORUS

[* The word changes from one chorus to the next.]
