Subject: The Friday Song From: Big Mick Date: 31 Mar 98 - 07:59 PM While not a very old song, nor socially important, I still am trying to locate the music and lyrics to this song. Everyone seems to remember it, but no one has the music. The operative line from the chorus is "We're gonna lay around the shanty, mama, and get a good buzz on". |

Subject: Lyric/chords request - The Friday Song?? From: Big Mick Date: 07 Apr 98 - 11:13 PM I remember this song from the early 70's. One part of the chorus went "We're gonna lay around the shanty, mama, and get a good buzz on". I am not sure if the title is right. |

Subject: Lyr Add: SHANTY (Jonathan Edwards) From: Kazoo Date: 08 Apr 98 - 10:14 PM Hi. The song, I believe is called SHANTY. The words as far as I can recall them are:
I'm gonna sit down in that kitchen, fix me something good to eat,
Now pass it to me, baby. Pass it to me slow.
There ain't nothing to do and there's always room for more. Solos repeat first verse.
Tag: ...put a good buzz on every night and day if I can help it.
I'm not too sure of the chords, as I played harp on this in a band but we did it in "G" (C - harp). Try G, G7, A7, D7 or some variation of these. Hope this helps. Kazoo.
