I have the words to this song, but can anyone help me out with the ukelele accompaniment used by the late Israel Kamakawiwo'ole? (Guitar chords will do)

Lad, You must have seen this on ER like I did this week. I was able to find a site with lyrics and chords. I just haven't learned yet to do the blue clicky thing yet, so just copy and paste to: http://pubweb.acns.nwu.edu/~ryn655/netmusic/Somewhere_World.txt Brudda Iz was phenomenal, wasn't he? Enjoy. Blues

Wow ... great stuff. Any ideas on the ukelele bit? I don't play one myself, but would the guitar chords be the same for the Uke?

The fingerings for ukulele chords are the same as for the highest four strings on a guitar, but, because the ukulele is tuned higher, the actual chord that sounds is a fourth higher(assuming gCEA tuning, the D fingering will sound a G chord, the E fingering will sound an A chord) remembering also that the g is an octave above)--

I didn't hear this on ER, but I did catch it on the end of a movie recently --- but I can't remember which one! I do remember being so impressed that I did a websearch to find out who this guy was!

As did I, Bullfrog ... only to suffer a repeat of what happened when I went to see how Nick Drake was doing these days ...

Was it 'Finding Forrester', Bullfrog? I was as impressed as you were.

We talked a bit about him in a thread from October '01 called "Your Favorite Hawaiian Song." I don't know how to link but I can refresh it for you. Margaret

From that other thread, here's an article from the Honolulu Star-Bulletin about Iz, published when he died in 1997.

Aloha,
Mark

That's the one irishajo! And TheBigPinkLad, I don't know how to break this to you, but you've probably noticed Jimi Hendrix hasn't been playing too many gigs lately...
