Is Anamil down that way? NYC is in the basic path, but that is a long shot. Looks very odd outside. We are in for a big thunder storm at least. Cheers Larry

The tornado warning for here seems to have passed, but we still are at an extreme risk for floods, hail, lightning, etc.

I think I might just take a tornado if it brought rain........(extreme SW Wyoming.....) We had just a titch of rain tonight. I was in the "sitting pool" and refused to get out.......when i did fnally get out, it stopped raining. Not that I think I control anything, but aw, crap. We need an all night, soaking gardeners rain.....

No tornado here along the Hudson in Edgewater, but we did hear the first tornado warning on the radio about 5:15 PM. We've had lots of lightning, spurts of rain, and some nasty winds, but no twister. Larry, have you written your tornado ballad yet?

Sorry to be callous, Sorcha, but from Maine that part of the country is all SW.

We've been in drought conditions here in Maine but I'm sure you would consider it a bountiful wet land compared to your western droughts. We are seeing an improvement lately and might be out of the dry spell. Apparently the reservoirs still need to come up.

Yea, I understand, Naenason. It is just sooooooo dry here. Average humidity has been less than 15% and no rain at all.

Well, just a good soaking, and a report that a poor fellow was hit by lightning in NJ. Had a bit of a family reunion, three Otway's from three branchs of the family. One, Wayne is closly related to John Otway (partner of Attila the Stockbroker) The other, Gini has been hit by lightning twice. Gee, I wish I knew that before I sat down next to her! Well, it missed her this time... NOW There is some food for a ballad, Janice!
Something like, lightning DOES hit twice, I hope not three times!!!!
Stay well and dry. Cheers, Larry

I watched the national news tonight and not a thing. I presume it pirouetted itself off into oblivion. . . .

According to CBS radio, Doppler radar picked up a tornado, and at least one US Weather Service spotter reported a funnel cloud near New Brunswick. However, there is no evidence that it touched down.

Then if it didn't touch down, who the hell is this kid with the dog in my appartment, why is there a house on my roof, and who's stripped stockings are sticking out from under said house.

The Star-Ledger newspaper reported that the NJ tornado was really only very high winds. They reached 55mph here in Whitehouse Station.I've got tree branches all over my yard now. It looked like a hurricane when it came through, but 10 mile south of here, it only got cloudy, and a few mile north, in Phillipsburg, they got light rain. NJ weather is like that.

"the NJ tornado was really only very high winds", eh? isn't that "true" of all tornadi?

Liland
who knows that's not the right plural

PS: Mount Hood had a bunch of exciting seismic activities today
reminiscent of when St. Helens blew her top...
