Please could someone tell me where I could obtain a download of MidiText 98 as all the links I have tried seem to fail. Thankyou in anticipation - Fleetwood

I got the address from an old MidiText text file I'd done. The URL that comes up with the older version of the program is a dead one.

Last time I tried it, this one worked. I usually try to remember to paste it at the bottom of any posts of miditext:

The link posted above is part of the program, but no longer works. Mudcat Users may download the free MIDIText here.

For those who'd like to make notes, the URL is

http://miditext.8m.net/miditext.html

Small quibble, but John you posted the same link I did, which I tried before I posted it.

...now I just need to go to remedial sentence-writing school!

Well, I DID get to the page but didn't try downloading MidiText because I already had it. It's not there...gone...POOF, so you can't download it. It's 69KB zipped. If you want me to send it as an attachment fleetwood, e-mail me.

Jeri -

Same link, sure enough. I meant to suggest that people who post a miditext might want to copy my little statement to tack on to the bottom, so that those who don't have it will have a good link when they're thinking about it.

The links above get to the right page, but the "download software" button didn't seem to work.

When I entered the same page from the "LINKS" thread, I got a successful hookup and download.

http://miditext.8m.net/ is the correct URL, and I got another copy of the .exe successfuly downloaded.

If it wasn't a temporary glitch on the miditext page, maybe its just the net-goddess playing pranks.

For future reference: the site is currently listed in the "LINKS" PermaThread, category "MIDI."

Back to HTML school. Maybe the clones will remove the previous post, which should have been:

The link that Jeri and I posted used to work, but doesn't any more. That link was to:

http://miditext.8m.net/miditext.html

The link that does work is a step back from that, at:
http://miditext.8m.net/

GET MIDITEXT HERE

The correct (current as of today, August 19, 2002) link is in the LINKS PermaThread.

As in my above mangled attempt, I'd suggest that anyone posting a MidiText file add a line to the effect of:

You can now get MidiText <a href="http://miditext.8m.net/">HERE</a>.

If you copy the above line (if my html worked) and paste it as plain text in your word processor, you should be able to paste it back into a mudcat post and get a good clicky(??)

I did successfully download the MidiText.exe file from the "GET MIDITEXT HERE" clicky in my previous post, although the site is a little "twitchy."

There be popups there - and if you click on the "download program" button while the first popup is loading, it may "freeze" things. A "refresh" should get you back in place. My scan after visiting the site did not show any of the "ad-trace" cookies, or other nasties, so apparenty what you get is merely annoying - a small price to pay for having a friend on an accessible site.
