Subject: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: GUEST Date: 04 Nov 02 - 08:33 PM So here it is, US midterm election eve. Any contest of most vile politicians will, of course, be an endless list. However, it might just be therapeutic for you to purge yourself of the disgust you feel for the one politician above all others, who sunk to the absolute lowest level inhabitable by slimy invertebrates in that crowded cesspool known as Campaign 2002. Local and/or national, doesn't matter. My vote goes to...drumroll, please! A local Minnesota vote for Sara Janacek, the Cruella de Ville of the Minnesota Republican Party. And my national vote goes to VP of Undisclosed Locations (yet, we always seem to know exactly where he is coming from...HELL!) Dick Cheney. Please, don't forget to vote. And as Presselect Shrub says, take everyone you know with you to the polls too. Vote early and often, and we'll keep counting your votes until the courts intervene. |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: GUEST Date: 04 Nov 02 - 08:36 PM BTW, to be democratic about all this, we should allow everyone to vote on politicians in their own countries. Any of you posting from Turkey, well...we know why you won't be voting after today. But hey, howse about dem Brazilians? |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: Bobert Date: 04 Nov 02 - 09:12 PM JUNIOR, then there are the *also rans*. Here's a guy who wants to blow up a lot of people so that folks will be too entertained to discover that the man is a *crook. And here he is trying to convince folks thats he's eyeball-to-eyeball with the bad guys, al la John Kennedy and is he eyeball-to-eyeball? Hell no, he isn't! He's been too busy the last month (during which his PR folks would have Joe Six Pack think that he is eyeball-to-eyeball when he hasn't spent any time in Washington, D.C. in three months) vacationing, fund raisin' or stumpin' for other folks who would have Joe Six Pack think that they are eyeball-to-eyeball type of folks. Beam my boney Wes Ginny butt up... Bobert |

Doug - You may be disturbed to know that I know next to nothing about both Tom Daschle and Jim Jeffords...so I'm not sure how to react to your mention of them. Do you know anything about Mike Harris or Stockwell Day? If not, we're even. As for Barbra, I seriously dislike much of her music, but know very little about her politics. I gather she is an enthusiastic Democrat? Ted Kennedy has been rather a disappointment, but someone had to do it (play his role, I mean). Hilary? Brace yourself, Doug. That woman may yet be the first female President of the United States of America. Keepa you fingers crossed! :-) - LH |

Does anyone remember Vern Miller, the former attorney-general of Kansas, who raided Amtrack trains passing thru kansas to see if they were selling....*BOOZE**?....he started as a deputy sheriff and became sheriff and had slimy, evil records following him all the way up...and VERY nearly became Governor of Kansas!..... and who can forget Spiro Agnew? Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: beadie Date: 05 Nov 02 - 10:49 AM A website put up by a group called "Citizens for Legitimate Government" made a claim in one of their recent newsletters that we "have a lying, usurping, weasel for a pResident." I protest! As a ferret owner, I feel that this statement is an inexcusable affront to all members of the family Mustelidae (the weasels). Mustelids include weasels, ferrets, otters, mink, sables, fishers, martens, and numerous other species. Some family members have even been elevated to positions of high esteem by institutions of higher learning (Badgers at the University of Wisconsin and Wolverines at the University of Michigan). It is most unfortunate that the qualities of weaselhood, tenacity, ferocity, cunning and intelligence are sullied every election season by association of their good name with (ugh!) politicians, lawyers, lobbyists, broadcast talking heads and the like. |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: GUEST Date: 05 Nov 02 - 10:55 AM Ooh! Vile, vile SD Governor "Wild Bill" Janklow, the Republican hand picked by the Shrub to run for the US House. The Shrub hand picked both Republican congressional candidates in South Dakota this year you know. Raped his babysitter while serving as assistant US attorney general, was sent packing into the military as an 18 year old to avoid prosecution for his participation in a gang rape. Don't come any slimier than that guy. |

Doug: Yeah, it's nice knowing that Junior is out stumping and not messing with anything around town. Actually he's figured out that unless he gets the Senate that he can't mess things up too badly so he's given up for now. But that could all change and then America's working class are going to really be taken for a ride... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: Little Hawk Date: 05 Nov 02 - 12:04 PM Well said, Doug. A lot of the named people cannot fairly be called "vile". I think Joe McCarthy and Pol Pot can, though, at least by most people's standards. Mike Harris is the former premier of Ontario (a conservative Conservative...), and Stockwell Day is the former leader of the Canadian Alliance Party, formerly the Reform Party (a sort of somewhat radical conservative outfit, with most of their support in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba..."the West"). While I would not characterize either of them as personally "vile", I would say that Mike Harris's governmental policies were extremely destructive and have cause lasting damage to the Province of Ontario. As for Stockwell, well, he never got the chance to do major damage... - LH |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: PeteBoom Date: 05 Nov 02 - 12:48 PM My TWO votes are for local guys - As the result of term limits, we have a crop of State House and State Senate seats that have no incumbent. There is a pair of folks from the same party that have auto-dialed phone calls going out to "likely voters" in the districts (one house, one senate). These vary from (House race) "Mike abuses his power and threatens old people" to "We don't need corrupt politicians like Mike" to "He's in favor of cutting senior benefits to pay for abortions and health care for illegal immigrants" - (Senate race) to "Steve is a fraud" to "Christians should vote for THIS guy because Steve does not act like a proper Christian should and is in favor of abotion and is soft on crime." I know BOTH of these guys - their decent fellows who worked hard for what they have - and did not rely on daddy's money to get them where they are. (Heck, Mike helped me cook 500 pounds of spaghetti for a neighborhood fund-raiser a couple of years ago - WHAT A HOOT!) So - my two are Steve and Mike's opponents (of whom Big Mick is probably the only one who has POSSIBLY heard of these guys, and even then I doubt it...) Cheers- Pete |

Gotta' admire that determination..........and he's getting votes....not many but........... Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: wilco Date: 05 Nov 02 - 01:49 PM For all of us who casually throw vitrol at politicians, I would challenge each and every one of them to "step up to the plate," and try their hand at governance. It's easy to be a critic. In a society of elected, representative government, good people are needed to become politicians. Be ever mindful of the alternative. |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: beadie Date: 05 Nov 02 - 02:20 PM Wilco: (sorry for the premature submission) Speaking as someone who earns his living from within the government, I would rather approach the ideal of having civic-minded citizens participating as members of the government and then going back to private life rather than having politicians playing musical chairs moving from this office to the next. I have seen both and, unfortunately, there is a distinct, detectable difference in attitude, performance, and, often, in integrity. Not every person in government is a politician, but . . . . |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: Ebbie Date: 05 Nov 02 - 03:55 PM In Alaska, I vote for Frank Murkowski. He's the Republican US senator who is running mainly against Democrat Fran Ulmer, and quite likely to win simply because of - well, what? He is a 22-year entrenched senator who is against pork- but hauls it home by the barrel, supposedly knows what Alaskans want and need- but is so out of touch he doesn't even get his 'facts' straight, does everything but pat Fran, the little woman, on the head- Fran Ulmer who has a long history of service in the state from her years as state representative, Juneau mayor and current lieutenant governor, as well as some posts I've probably forgotten; Fran who is knowledgeable, accessible, concerned and efficient-, he employs platitudes and half truths to appear informed but can't offer one actual plan to remedy our fiscal crisis. I'd like to chuck him out altogether- but I say, keep him in Washington where, unpopular as he is, he still can do some good. The people I know and respect don't want him in Alaska. |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 05 Nov 02 - 04:58 PM On the national level, a certain brainless shit-bird from Texas with whom I have the extreeeeeeme displeasure of sharing middle initials. On the local level, the entire City Council of Pensacola Florida. I don't know whether or not the story made the national news, but the whole damn bunch of 'em (save maybe one or two) got their asses busted for violations of Florida's "Sunshine Law" which provides that the public's business must be transacted in open forum, not in private meetings nor over lunch at the country club nor while playing golf with one's cronies. Fines and jail time for the lot of them! Their defense lawyer has not run for public office yet, but just in case he decides to do so, we'll go ahead and cast a vote now and hold it in reserve for future use. A special breed of slimy turd he is. Bruce |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: Hollowfox Date: 05 Nov 02 - 05:07 PM No, 'Spaw, he's vile. Remember, I live in Youngstown. I believe he still has a website, if you want his side of the story; his defense was eerily similar to Slobadon Milosovich's, and they both insisted on defending themselves rather than using a lawyer. The name's spelled Traficant (one "f"), if anybody wants to search for it. His campaign ads are amusing, though, in a strange sort of way. (He filmed them before he went to prison) Ad #1 said, "No matter what you think of him, he got things done." It said he got $2 billion (that's a thousand thousand here in the USA) into the area, but didn't mention how much more the rest of the state got over the same 18 year period. Ad #2 had Jimbo himself on it, telling us that he could do as good a job from prison as half of Congress could do in freedom. Ad #3 was Traficant's campaign manager, who told us that "Washington Insiders" (Traficant's foes for 18 years) had assured him that accomodations would be made so that Jim could perform his congressional duties from his cell. Yeah, right. |

Subject: RE: BS: Most Vile Politician Contest Vote Here From: Little Hawk Date: 05 Nov 02 - 05:57 PM We had a municipal official in Orillia who used the city's money to play at the local casino (after he had squandered his own savings there first). His defense was that he was "addicted to gambling" (true) and that he was only trying to win BACK the city's money (and his own) which he had already lost...and just got in too deep. Well...um...WAY too deep. There was no way he could pay back what he had lost by the time he was caught. I won't mention any names.
