Subject: RE: The Sloop 9Barton, UK) From: GUEST,The Bloke in the Corner Date: 30 Dec 02 - 10:50 AM It looks like being another good one, like last week. At least you can have a decent pint in a pub with good acoustics and free pizza. Stop the madness with the hamsters, sprouts, and strange villages, turn up, tune up (except oakley, who never bothers) and saw, puff, pick or squeeze away. Kit will be there as well. |

Subject: RE: The Sloop 9Barton, UK) From: Oaklet Date: 30 Dec 02 - 11:30 AM And there is planned, a live interactive 3G digital relay-feed (in an ongoing real timeframe scenario) with our namesakes in impoverished Bedfordshire. |

Subject: RE: The Sloop 9Barton, UK) From: My guru always said Date: 30 Dec 02 - 11:55 AM Can I take my lap-top & web-cam? |
|
Subject: RE: The Sloop 9Barton, UK) From: Oaklet Date: 30 Dec 02 - 12:02 PM Of course, but we don't have electricity in this part of the world so I fear the webcast might be a bit dark. |
|
Subject: RE: The Sloop (Barton, UK) From: GUEST,kj Date: 30 Dec 02 - 02:09 PM we'll be there no doubt. Hey John, I'm trying my best to persuade Colin that we'd really like another guinea pig but no go I'm afraid. We started off with two in Worcester & ended up with 18 of the sweet little things!! |
|
Subject: RE: The Sloop (Barton, UK) From: Noreen Date: 30 Dec 02 - 04:32 PM Hope the digital real-time hamster-powered relay session feed is going well. Was the news item about power cuts and flood warnings on the East Coast anything to do with you lot? |

Subject: RE: The Sloop (Barton, UK) From: My guru always said Date: 31 Dec 02 - 05:17 AM Hearing the tunes we know so well being played in a real-time scrolling scenario by our fellow twin-sessioners was wonderful. We sang along when we knew the words & lala-ed the rest... We were unfortunate in that the pub walls were too thick / we were in a valley / the pub phone is barred from mobile numbers. But we coped surprisingly well with the aid of a couple of loo rolls, some wire, several pints of good ale, an umbrella, a Christmas present and some sticky-back plastic. We reverted to plan 9 in the car park. Our small chorus (complete with harmonies) aquitted itself well (we thought) against all odds. Next time we will do better! There are voices behind these keys, and (we assume) faces too! Our pubs have been brought together & squeezed through telephone lines in ways previously unconsidered. All good fun :-) Happy New Year Hull9CatsAll!! |

Subject: RE: The Sloop (Barton, UK) From: ET Date: 31 Dec 02 - 07:43 AM Was good last night, all sat formally round large table formation. Thought lacked formal structure, ie needed a chairman, minutes of the last meeting, attendance list, What happened to the fireworks or was it the music that provided enough? Did anyone notice that there was only one bloke in the pub, plus 4 teanagers who left early, apart from musicians. Concern that even with best efforts we will be unable to drink enough to keep Pub going. |

Subject: RE: The Sloop (Barton, UK) From: smallpiper Date: 31 Dec 02 - 12:18 PM What about bloke in the corners missus, brother and daughters friend, plus Karen's son, plus Eric's missus, plus the side room had at least 4 people in it all night and not forgetting jOhn from Hull I tink that there will be no problem with the drink consumption thats at least twice as many as on a non sesion night! btw did anyone count the number of musicians? My count (in memory) makes it 17 any advance? |
|
Subject: RE: The Sloop (Barton, UK) From: GUEST,Bloke in the Corner Date: 31 Dec 02 - 01:58 PM There were at least 17 people, but if Oakley writes a tune about it (lament? Strathspey?Humbertune?) the numbers will doubtless swell to 'The mighty army of the Sloop Inn, picking up toons, playing them (three times round AT LEAST) and thus ensuring their immortality. How about it, Davy baby, a toon about the Sloop session? You could call it 'Asloop behind the sofa'.... Excellent session as usual, Kit enjoyed it tremendously, looking forward to next Tuesday very much |

Subject: RE: The Sloop (Barton, UK) From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 31 Dec 02 - 03:54 PM 20 musicians, and 2 listeners, [young chap in red jumper and man with beard sat near cig machine), I was speaking to that tall bloke from Cottingham, 9I forgot his name), about the possibility of holding an extra big session on the first Tuesday of the month, and them with cars would give a lift to people with out, we could fit 4 or 5 in each car, so maybe bring people from further away like hull etc, they will like to go if they know plenty of people going.what you think? |

Subject: RE: The Sloop (Barton, UK) From: smallpiper Date: 01 Jan 03 - 08:29 AM Is there room at the inn? But good idea anyway |
