FYI I just picked up a copy of the kids book, Elizabeth's Song, about the early life of Libba Cotten. Much of the story is about her learning to play guitar and writing "Freight Train" at the age of 11.

I love kids picture books, and I'm really looking forward to sharing this story with my 3 sons (ages 6 1/2, 4 1/2, and 2).

Larry, I'm so glad you popped in. Your grand grandmother's music has meant a lot to any number of us, and helped shape the music many of us play.

My son is four now, and I'll plan to get him this book. He loves "Shake Sugaree" and "Freight Train" - as do I.

Another good children's book about a traditional musician is "Passing the Music Down," about the late West Virginia fiddler Melvin Wine.
