Subject: Info on Brian Bowers From: GUEST,mrbisok@aol.com Date: 05 Apr 03 - 09:32 PM For a private CD I'm issuing based on recorded radio programs, I'm looking for info on Brian Bowers. 1. His he a HAMMERED dulcimer player or just a dulcimer player? 2. Did he write and record a song "Old Lovers"? 3. If yes, what album is it on, and what year was it released? -- Thanks, Harold from Hawthorne, NJ |

Subject: RE: Info on Brian Bowers From: GUEST Date: 05 Apr 03 - 09:39 PM 1. He plays the autoharp, though to some it could sound as if his dulcimer is hammered. |

Subject: RE: Info on Brian Bowers From: Deckman Date: 05 Apr 03 - 10:37 PM Can you please explain to me what is a "private CD issues on recorded radio programs?" Are you in contact with Brian? Do you want his phone number? Bob |

Subject: RE: Info on Brian Bowers From: Joe Offer Date: 06 Apr 03 - 03:43 AM http://bryanbowers.com/ is supposed to be his Web page, but it isn't working this evening. You can find more about him with this Google search (click). He has stopped here occasionally. Bryan's Friend for Life CD came out on the Flying Fish label in 2000. It's a nice recording - it has a picture on the cover of him holding an autoharp, which is his weapon of choice. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Info on Brian Bowers From: open mike Date: 06 Apr 03 - 04:22 AM Bryan will be performing in Chico, CA on April 20, Easter Sunday night. OLD LOvers is on the "album" "For You" which had the Original Release Date of September 29, 1992 . What is the purpose of this c.d.? Are you going to sell it? Do you have his permission to use his material on it? Since you don't even know how to spell his name or what instrument he plays, I am not sure you are well-enough informed to be doing this. It seems you should get his ok to include anything by him in a recording, esp. if you are going to profit in any way . I am just concerned that Bryan be given proper credit, and not have his name, instrument, or music mis-used in any way. |

Subject: RE: Info on Brian Bowers From: Willie-O Date: 06 Apr 03 - 09:54 AM He actually plays the auto parts. By the way, thanks for casually slapping mountain dulcimer players upside the haid--"just a dulcimer player". Sheesh. I echo open mike's sentiments. W-O |

Subject: RE: Info on Brian Bowers From: SINSULL Date: 06 Apr 03 - 02:34 PM I have similar concerns and have voiced them to BB's agent. He can sort it out if it needs sorting. I am posting here so that I alone can take the flak which may result. Mary |

Subject: RE: Info on Brian Bowers From: open mike Date: 06 Apr 03 - 02:47 PM The credit for the song Old Lovers goes to Laszlo Slomovitz. Bryan mentions the band Seldom Scene as helping with the song, too. Actually the Flying Fish Record, For You seems to have been released in 1990. The web page shows about 4 of Bryans "albums" as coming out Sept. '92--methinks this is a typo. |

Subject: RE: Info on Bryan Bowers From: harpgirl Date: 07 Apr 03 - 09:58 AM Bryan was in this neck of the woods a little while back and he has a new song that I think he wrote while he was sitting on a park bench on the Suwannee River in White Springs while he was here. I think it's called "Magnolia". I've only heard it once but I think we'll be hearing it again... |

Subject: RE: Info on Bryan Bowers From: harpgirl Date: 08 Apr 03 - 07:58 PM When I was in college I used to go down to Mr. Flood's Party, a bar downtown in Ann Arbor, to listen to the Gemini brothers. I saw my first bodhran played by Laslo (or was it his brother). Leo Kretzner was often playing as well. Lots of folkies played Mr. Flood's. Gemini was a great duo! |

Subject: RE: Info on Bryan Bowers From: Stilly River Sage Date: 08 Apr 03 - 08:35 PM Hmmm. Same guest who started this thread is now asking questions about someone else he knows little about. Hasn't said it's for his CD, but it is the same guy, same kind of questions. It's here. |
