This group is topping the charts in Crawford TX with songs like:

It was rainin hard in Dixie
the night momma got outta jail.
Her truck got stuck on the rail road tracks
and then it started to hail.

You could hear a train a rumblin
or was it a twister in the dark .
But something big was comin
just beyond the trailor park.

Then I heard my momma scream
"Jammer in reverse!"
Like wakin from a hellish dream
I had my hit song verse.

Jammer in reverse
Jammer in reverse
Comon boy it ain't perverse
Jammer in reverse.

A week or two we all rehearsed
and added some sound effects.
The song was done on April first
better than I dared expect.

I've had my share of hang dog days
but these are now the worst.
Yeah I got the hit song praise
but now I just feel cursed.

That night I never found reverse
I bailed from the truck half crazed
Momma went back for her purse
The rest is just a haze

Jammer in reverse
Jammer in reverse
Comon boy it ain't perverse
Jammer in reverse.

Now I gotta back door girl
who loves the great outdoors
might even give marriage a whirl
if it weren't for all the whores

Now I got my King cab truck
with posi four wheel drive
No way in hell I'll get stuck
and have to take a dive...ya see

There wasn't enough of momma
to justify a hearse
I'm left with cash and trauma
Listenen to my hit song verse

Jammer in reverse
Jammer in reverse
Comon boy it ain't perverse
Jammer in reverse.

Do you think the criticism might be as a result of a sudden splurge of truth at a concert in London?

I think that this is about a group called the Dixie Chicks, what they did was record an album and on that Album they recored an anti-war song, and the cover on the album had anti-war graffitti on it, and now because they done this, while in Europe, thy arn't being Allowed back into America, for now.

So much for Freedom of Speech.

One of the most ironic parts about this story to me is all of the people who have come to the defense of the Dixie Chicks while blasting those who have boycotted their CD's or have called into radio stations to have the stations boycott them as well. Doesn't freedom of speech cover the right to boycott because they disagree with the Dixie Chicks just as much as Maines had to say what she did? Whatever side of the fence you fall on this argument, if you believe in freedom of speech, you can't be selective about it.

Who ever said they weren't being let back into America? We amy not always agree with, but we NEVER turn our backs on our countrymen.

Busbitter --

It is not about an album, nor about anyone being denied entry into the US. It is about an American po-country group who had the nerve to say they were ashamed that Bush was calling himself a Texan (they being, themselves, from Texas). And about the rednecked ruction that ensured therefrom.

Hope this clarifies the issue.

Saposidly, they can't talk about about our president...one of our rights defined to us by our founding fathers over 2 centuries ago.
But, winniers of awards can, right there on stage, and nothing happens to them, but here seems to be the confrontation I get when talking to people "she didn't say it on American soil." Would the reaction really been different if she had?

[Being a Texan] I don't agree with their views because im not going to be ashamed of Bush becuse he is a Texan, if I am going to be ashamed its going to be because of his decisions. BUT i'm not going to stop listening to their music, nor am I going to stop anyone else from running over Dixie Chick CDs and banning them from the radio.

now....I thought this thread was about the Dixie Pricks...

Kinda like the "Augusta Bottom Pickers", a local group based in the Missouri River bottom land town of Augusta.

Well... seems they chickened out, though. Call themselves "the Augusta Bottoms Consort" now.

Good music!

Buy the CD!

Aw, too bad, its the name that always makes me pick up the cd in the store and think "what the heck is this!"...how iv found a lot of good music.
Some of my favorites, though without crazy names, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Cooder Graw, Tommy Alverson...cant think of any others...
But song titles like 'Raise Hell Drink Beer', '50 dollars and a flask of crown', and "the everclear Song' really make you wonder about these people, but they make some hilarious music.

Guest Boab: my point is, if Donuel has never been in Crawford, Texas, how in the hell would he know what's playing there? I have been to Crawford, and I can tell you that whatever is playing there originates in Waco, Dallas or Ft. Worth, because there ain't no radio stations in Crawford, Texas1

However some of these people don't want to listen to reason.

But as I said I don't want to Argue with anyone.

I just want a peaceful life.

If one can forget the lyrics; they look good, sound good and move good. Refreshing performers, certainly superior to most on offer today. (Yer class folk acts apart of course)

Is it worth the effort to write this? (he asks himself)

You don't really believe that the Dixie Chicks would record a song like this, do you? It is either a (not so) clever parody of a Country song by a group using a (not so) clever parody of their name OR It is something that the poster made up his own self. Either way, it (ironically) proves a point about this war and the controversy surrounding it.

Some people hear something and pass it along as if it were "God's own truth" without even thinking. Whether it's what the government says, what some celebrities say, what some media pundits say, or what some citizen "expressing his right to free speech under the 5th Amendment" (I know) says.

It's too much work for most people to PAY ATTENTION; and listening IS a SKILL. But the really sad part to me is that our "leaders" - both in government and in the business sector - have learned to depend on our short attention span and lazy habits to get what they want from us. We are complicit in our own screwing.

If the original post was a joke, nice try, but I just don't think this is funny any more.

Love ya
Bart
