The lyrics are (or were....) on my CD jacket which has mysteriously disappeared. Searched all over and no sign of many Bruce Guthro lyrics at all. Anyone with Factory Line or Songsmith?

Thx,
Barry

I found Songsmith but not Factory Line:

SONGSMITH
Bruce Guthro

In the corner by the window of a small upstairs appartment
There's a writer with his instrument in hand
He shuffels through some chourds
Paces cross the dusty floor
And searches for a melody to bend

He reaches for a paper as he feels an inspiration
From a child that he see's playing on the lawn
Begins to ply his trade
Reality begins to fade
He finds finds a place he feels where he belongs

CHORUS 1
And I don't think Michael Angelo could have painted any better
The picture that he painted in my mind
Their lies the beauty of the songsmith
Take you any place any time

Years and memories they fade
Stars are born and stars are made
The world forgets so easily
As we are mortal men
That's why he struggles with his pen
To try and leave us something to believe
Still on and on and on we go in the ever changing flow
Revolving till the darkness fills the sky
Whoever really knows why it goes the way it goes
Only those who dare to ask them why?

CHRORUS 2
And I dont think Michael Angelo could have painted any better
The picture that the old man sang to me
There lies the beauty of the songsmith
Take you any place you want to be

There's a fire burning
In the darkened hallways of his mind
There's a fire burning
He's trying to find a reason for the rhyme

CHORUS 1

Thanx Sorcha...

There's a chord in Factory Line I can't figure.... It's in the lyric:

Em
felt like I was meant to hold her
C
felt a hand upon my shoulder
       ***???***
was the boss man's son with a half ass grin
         C
He said "You like your job"
    D
I'm cuttin' in

Any ideas?

Barry

There is allegedly a sound file on Bruce Guthro's web site but it didn't work for me.

The link worked for me, but that's not my problem. I own the CD, can't figure the damn chord to save my life. I have a suspicion that it's the simplest thing, just can't find it.

Subject: Lyr Req: FACTORY LINE (Bruce Guthro)
From: number 6

Please excuse any spelling found in the lyrics below ... I keyed this off of a CD liner .... BTW, if you ever have the chance catch Bruce Guthro live ... one fine artist (he's one of those exceptions. better heard live than recorded)

Factory Line

Said I've never seen nothing like that before
and her clothes went tumbling to the floor
and her long black hair fell down in curls
in a sea of sand she was a pearl
you know I work all day on the factory line
I don't want nothin' no if it ain't mine
a little trait instilled in me by my old man
say I don't no nothin' you're a free man

chorus:
and I say hey Carmelia we're never gonna touch the sky
on a factory line

Puerto Rico I heard someone say
immigration paid her way
I watch her hands freeze on her work
as the boss man s brush up against her skirt
you see I had my share of trouble and cops
now I just shut my mouth and I do my job
but this dark skinned girl she caught my eye
and some thing shifted deep inside

Well we went to Vegas on a weekend tear
ah me and the boys and my lady fair
felt her hand upon my side
she said come and dance with me one more time
felt like I was meant to hold her
felt a hand upon my shoulder
was the boss man's son with a half ass grin
he say you like your job, I'm cutting in

Now the worker in me said to step aside
so I looked my damsel in the eyes
said excuse me for my lack of class
and I told that boy to kiss my ass
I said come on baby let's blow this town
she said I'll drive for the first round
and outside of Vegas on a desert strip
she pulled the car into a ditch

You ain't never seen nothin like that before
and her clothes went tumbling to the floor
now I know that there's no going back this time

.... biLL
