Subject: Lyr Req: Like to Thank You Ma'am....daughter Ann From: GUEST,cuento@earthlink.net Date: 13 May 03 - 07:01 PM Years ago there was a wonderful folksinger in Arizona, Ian MacPherson, who sang a song that had the refrain, "Like to thank you, Ma'am, for your daughter Anne." I've particles of that song floating around in my head for years but never knew the whole song. Anyone out there know of a song that has that refrain? |

Subject: Lyr Add: ANN (Billy Edd Wheeler) From: GUEST,Sorcha Date: 13 May 03 - 07:06 PM I'll be damned, I found them here: http://users2.ev1.net/~smyth/linernotes/thesongs/Ann.htm Ann I know I'll never meet another hunk o' woman like my Ann. She makes me feel like a great big man. I'm gonna go tell her mama what I think about her, say, "Thank you, ma'am, for giving me your daughter Ann." She sure is stacked from her toes to the nape of her neck, she's packed like a seed in a grape, she's smooth as marble skin. When I see her I believe I'm a real young guy and ev'ry time I go to work I think I might die if I can't hurry home again. If the good Lord worked all night a-makin' me a female plan, I'd say, "No, thanks, Lord. I'll just keep Ann." How could I ever look at any other woman when I've got Ann? I feel so good when she takes my hand. I'm gonna go tell her daddy what I think about her, say, "Thank you, man, for giving me your daughter Ann." When I come home and I feel like I've been run over by a ten-ton truck she can rub my shoulder and ease my aches and pains. If I lose my job and I'm down to a silver dollar and I feel like a dried up gourd in a holler, she soothes my brow like summer rain. If the good Lord worked all night a-makin' me a female plan, I'd say, "No, thanks, Lord. I'll just keep Ann." I know I'll never meet another hunk o' woman like my Ann. She makes me feel like a great big man. If the good Lord worked all night a-makin' me a female plan, I'd say, "No, thanks, Lord. I'll just keep Ann." I'd say, "No thanks, Lord, I'll just keep Ann." |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Like to Thank You Ma'am....daughter Ann From: Joe Offer Date: 14 May 03 - 05:16 AM Hi, Stewie - I guess I know Billy Edd Wheeler only through others like the Kingston Trio who have recorded his songs. I couldn't find any Billy Edd CD's at Amazon or CDUniverse, but http://www.billyeddwheeler.com has a nice compilation CD I might have to order if Dick can't get it for me. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Like to Thank You Ma'am....daughter Ann From: Vixen Date: 14 May 03 - 09:01 AM Amazing! Yesterday, on my way home from work at 4:00 pm, I popped in a Glen Campbell CD, and listened to this very song for the first time in probably 25 years! I've always remembered bits of it, and 'twas indeed a delight to hear it again! What a surprise to find this here this morning! V |
