I am very honored to have Frank Hamilton as my guest on Traditions this coming Sunday May 25.   TRADITIONS airs on WFDU-FM, 89.1FM in the Northern NJ/NYC area, and also on the internet at www.wfdu.fm.

I taped this interview with Frank recently and I found his stories and perspective on the folk revival and folk music to be very enlightening, and entertaining!   As he says in the converstation, Frank has spent most of his career "under the radar", but he has been involved in many pivotal moments in the folk revival.   During his early days in California he received lessons from Bess Lomax Hawes, Woody Guthrie, Cisco Houston and was encouraged by Will Geer. He spent time in Washington Square Park during the early 1950's and traveled to Chicago with Bob Gibson to perform at the Gate of Horn. He was the first instructor at the Old Town School of Folk Music, performed at the first Newport Folk Festival, joined the Weavers, and today he continues to teach and perform along with his wife Mary. A fascinating individual!

We will be playing music from his recent CD as well as recordings from that first Newport Folk Festival and his stint with the Weavers.

The interview will air at 4pm Eastern Time, but I invite you to tune in for the entire show - from 3 to 6pm Eastern Time.

That will be a great one, Ron! Thanks for letting us know. Any chance of an archive? I will be out of town that day.
