This fine music venue - Patrick Street, Battkefield Band etc played here looks doomed to music. Since the music company went bust the place is up for sale - 5 bidders - 4 pubs and 1 cafe - one says "maybe entertainment". J D Wetherspoons offering to carry out 1 million pounds on pub conversion. The place is surrounded by pubs but I don't suppose that will make any difference.

Having played there on three occasions, and attended many concerts, I would be devastated.

This will be a sad loss both to Beverly and traveling folkies there has been some excellant concerts here.How about Adastra buying it????

Adastra is one of the organisations involved in discussion with East Riding Council. For a brief summary of the situation by Chris Wade, see  Beverley Picture Playhouse at the Yorkshire Folk Arts site.

Bids are in, and a shortlist is being prepared. We will have to see what happens then. You can contact the council to support the Arts Centre proposition; contacy details on the page linked to.

jOhn - they do in some these days, there are 2 in Huddersfield, the one nearest the university in deafening most of the time and then they turn the volume up at 9 O'clock

Talks are still going on and there is now some consultation with local people - perhaps stemming from the outcry from local groups and individuals.
Whether this is simply stalling for time is difficult to say, but Beverley councillors have now asked E. Riding council for further time to consider all options.

I was quite a regular here in the sixties,remember leaving my bike(unlocked)in the passageway outside ,quite safe back then.
