Help with a Brazilian name

Heloisa Pinheiro is known to be the lady who inspired the song "The Girl from Ipanema." That is her married name.

I'd like to be able to tell folks that the song was inspired by Heloisa ______ (maiden name), since she wasn't yet Heloisa Pinheiro at the time of said inspiration.

I've found listings for her of Heloisa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto, Heloisa Eneida, Heloisa Pinto-Pinheiro (which implies to me a maiden name of Heloisa Pinto), and Heloisa Mendes (!?!).

Can her maiden name be rendered in two words, first name/last name? If so, what would that last name be? If not, how would it be rendered?

My second wife rejoiced in the given names of Alice Lomath Morris Ferriera, and when she first married her husbands family name Pita, was added onto that. When we married she went to register the marriage at the Portuguese consulate in London, and came out of there listed as Alice Lomath Morris Ferriera Pita Mackenzie, PHEW! So you can see that they appear to add a name rather than chenge it on marriage, and in this case I would choose Pinto, which is a common surname. Don't know if this will help.

In some regions of Latin America the husband's last name is added too. I would think that, IF you've found her as Eloisa Pinto-Pinheiro AND you know that her married name is Pinheiro, THEN her maiden name is Pinto. By the way, it should be Eloisa without the "H".

I have checked this out with a Brazilian this afternoon, (The wife of the Landlord of my local pub!). She confirms that Heloisa Pinheiro`s full maden name is almost certainly Heloisa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto. The Heloisa Eneida and Heloisa Mendes usages that you have found were almost certainly shortened forms used for convenience. Heloisa Pinto would be the way it would be shortened using typical english speaking conventions. So, for an English speaking audience I would suggest either the full name or the Heloisa Pinto shortening as being the one that would be best understood and most "acurate". The best source would be to ask the subject herself but I suspect that would be a challenge even the Mudcats resources would find rather a tough one!!

Thank you all for the research and advice. I think I see now why so many sites choose to simply use Heloisa/Eloisa Pinheiro!
