I think the Van Morrison version is played as follows (oh please work line breaks):

STAR OF THE COUNTY DOWN
Em                                    C                         D
Near Banbridge town in the County Down;
Em                         D
One mornin' last July
Em                                    C                         D
Down a boreen green came a sweet colleen;
Em                         D                       Em
And she smiled as she passed me by.
G                                           D
She looked so sweet from her two bare feet;
Em                                              D
To the sheen of her nut brown hair
Em                          C                         D
Such a coaxin' elf sure I shook myself;
Em                    D                   Em
For to see if she was really there
CHORUS:
G                                     D
From Bantry Bay up to Derry Quay;
Em                                          D
And from Galway to Dublin town
Em                            C                        D
No maid I've seen like the brown colleen;
Em                       D                  Em
That I met in the County Down.

Hello, All!

I'm looking for nice guitar arrangements of this song (Slainte, Wooing Molly).
No tune or simple chords required, but sophisticated arrangement for single guitar or guitar duet.
I hope you'll help me.

It is of course "County" and not "Country" - maybe someone could correct the thread name for future reference. Are you there, Joe?

Verse:
Am / C G
Am / G /
Am / C G
Am Dm Am /
C / G /
Am / G /
Am / C G

Chorus:
C / G /
Am / G /
Am / C G
Am Dm Am /

Pick bass note with thumb and strum down-up with fingers - very effective. Where a chord is played for two bars, hammer on the third note and then strum up-down with fingers.

El McMeen did a "sophisticated" arrangement for solo guitar of it in CGDGAD tuning which I believe you can download at his website, at least you used to be able to. It also appeared on the Rounder recording Ramble to Cashel which comes with a booklet of the arrangements by El and the other participating guitarists on the CD. Good luck. vl
