Subject: Tune Req: Smoke gets in your eyes From: Marion Date: 07 Aug 03 - 07:10 PM Hi all. I'm playing for a anniversary party in a couple of days and I've been asked for "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." Can anyone point me to the dots or abc file online? It's the melody I need, not necessarily words or chords. Thanks, Marion |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Smoke gets in your eyes From: JohnInKansas Date: 07 Aug 03 - 07:49 PM Don't know where dots might be on the web, but it's in several of the Hal Leonard "Real" fake books. I have it in the "Real Ultimate," "Real Little," and "Real Jazz" books - appears to be identical in all three - in Eb for the 16 bar "verse," with a shift to B for 6 bars, then back to Eb for the closing 10. 300 dpi scan to jpg is 205KB, or pdf is 622KB. PM an email addy, and I can forward either, if you don't find something more convenient. For search purposes, it's lyrics by OTTO HARBACH and music by JEROME KERN, ©1933 by PolyGram International Publishing. It says "copyright renewed," but Hal Leonard sometimes is a little vague about such things. Can't say for sure whether it's currently ©. The audio Micca linked sounds pretty much true to the Hal Leonard dots, although I didn't play along for verification. John |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Smoke gets in your eyes From: Helen Date: 08 Aug 03 - 09:19 PM there is a midi file of Smoke Gets In Your Eyes I use music notation software, e.g. Noteworthy (which you can get a free demo version of and you can print from the demo, but it's very cheap and worth it for playing around with music/midis etc) and then load the midi file into it, listen to it, transpose it if necessary and then print out the dots. But, because you are in a hurry on this request I have copied the dots into an MsWord file for you and I will PM you with my email address so that I can send it to you. Helen |
