Okay, we're going to Paris, and we're looking at folk events that are going on when we're going to be there. Trouble is, the web sites are in French!

Would someone please translate the following description:

fest-deiz anime par le groupes Yao et Evit Farsal et le bagad Ti Ar Vretoned

In other words, is this music or theater or animation?

Thanks

We're off in 5 hours.

Looks like it's Breton music and dancing.

It would appear to be similar to a fest-noz, which I have been to in Brittany- it looks like the fest-noz is held at night and the fest-diez is during the day.

Fest-noz has a group and or/singers, performing for traditional Breton dances (eveyone being encouraged to join in) stalls with Breton food and drink, etc.
One of the impressive things was a couple of Breton singers, with arms round each other, singing unaccompanied for the dancing. Oh, and the bombard...!

Seems that your event will have the groups Yao and Evit Farsal performing, but I have no idea what "bagad" is, sorry.

fest-noz and fest-deiz

Let us know how you get on!

A bagad is a bagpipe and bombard band

Thanks Manitas- we've cracked it.

You have a treat in store, leeneia! :0)

(Fest-noz seem to be Saturday night events and Fest-deiz Sunday afternoon events)

I remember going to a Fest Noz in Brittany. The first act was a country and western band. Their accents were so strong that it wasn't until the last number that I realised that they were singing in English.

Thanks, everyone. The fest-diez is sounding better and better all the time.
