I just saw a piece on the news and was wondering if anyone had any more information? This definitely ranks as the second funniest thing I've seen today (numero uno was hearing about the lightning strikes on the set of Mel Gibson's Passions--"Okay, God, I'll quit being a collosal prick if you just send me a sign...Was that the sign?").

Anyhow, apparently the Russian prison system invited inmates to perform in a sort of "American Idol"-style contest? The winners, regardless of crime (ranking from drug use to murder) were granted amnesty? Is this the new 'thing'? We gather our celebrities FROM prison instead of sending them there? It would save a lot of time...

This is clearly the convergence of two super-trends -- the worship of celebrities and the criminalization of large businesses. It wa sinevitable someone would come up with this!
