Subject: RE: BS: Yet more babies!! From: wilbyhillbilly Date: 29 Oct 03 - 03:26 PM Right, here goes, I am a grandad, with 1 great grandchild, 11 grandchildren, and 18mths ago at the age of 61, my new wife (a bit younger) presented us with a gorgeous baby boy Danny,(after Oh Danny Boy, and there lies a very long story)whose youngest sister is 39yrs old!! which means that he is uncle to her two boys age 11 and 12. Whew! this is all getting very complicated, but I am just a very proud father again. P.S. Danny is already blowing in and out on his harmonica. |

Subject: RE: BS: Yet more babies!! From: Beccy Date: 30 Oct 03 - 03:18 PM Congratulations, Grandpa! My Dad said it was the happiest day of his life when my son, his first grandchild, was born. I asked whether he meant fourth happiest (after the births of his 3 children- moi included...) and he said, "Nope... it's the first happiest... cause I don't have to change diapers and I can give him back when he cries." Gee, Dad... Beccy |

Subject: RE: BS: Yet more babies!! From: Trevor Date: 13 Jun 07 - 11:04 AM I just re-discovered this thread. Joshua was born in June 2004.I just wanted to share a little story about him. He was born with a cleft lip which extended to his gum but not his palate. It came as quite a shock to see him - the 'wound' looked so raw, and big compared to his little face. His mum was frightened - she didn't feel she could take him out because she didn't want to have to talk about it; it really pissed her off when somebody said he was beautiful, because he wasn't (not in the way that her friends' babies were); she cried one day because she thought about how he would feel when he was growing up and meeting girls - he would be different. That reaction lasted a couple of months. When he was six months old he had the first of three operations to correct the damage. By this time he was smiling on one side of his mouth, and with the twinkliest, sparklingest eyes you have ever seen. When he came back from the operation his mum and dad cried again, this time because their beautiful baby looked different, not like Josh! Yesterday he celebrated his third birthday, my handsome grandson with the beautiful voice and the big sparkly eyes. He's got a little scar and he snuffles a bit because his nose is still a bit twisted. He's seen the photographs of himself when he was new-born and knows who it is despite the difference in appearance. Don't know why I'm spouting on about this - I suppose just another reminder to us all that although life isn't always a bed of roses, we usually win through...... |

Subject: RE: BS: Yet more babies!! From: Linda Kelly Date: 14 Jun 07 - 04:44 PM My granddaughter went passed my office window yesterday -not quite tall enough to see over the sill, I knew it was her because I could see the top of her tiara, which she never takes off, and a mass of honey blonde ringlets. When her mum finally lifted her up she gave me a shy smile and then shouted 'Granma I've got a verruca!' -she took her sock off and there it was -she gos to school in September -I worry about the fate of the tiara. |
