Subject: Lyr Req: Jack & Mavis Lee (UK) From: GUEST,Topcat Date: 28 Oct 03 - 07:43 PM Does any one recall Jack Lee from the Fisherman folk club Hollingworth England reciting the "Phantom Crapper"? I remember the early 70's visiting the lakeside club which Jack and Mavis ran so well. The venue was great for a brisk walk around the lake shore to sober up before you got in the Ford-pop to drive home!! The monologue was fair side splitting,Jack would time it to perfection, building up the scene with rich inuendo. Monologue request anyone?. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Jack & Mavis Lee (UK) From: GUEST,JohnB Date: 30 Oct 03 - 05:34 PM Many years ago, I worked with Jack at Hawker Siddeley Aviation pn Greengate in Middleton. When my wife and I got married we bought a house in Smithy Bridge, about a 15 min walk from the Fishermans. We moved to Canada in 1977 and still keep in touch with Jack and Mavis. Sometime back (many years and far too long ago)they visited Canada and somewhere in my collection of tapes I have a recording of Jack doing the Phantom in our kitchen. I guess that is my claim to fame. So VIN, next time Jack pops into the Joiners, tell him John and Tina say Hi and we hope to see them next year as we will be in England for a long vacation. JohnB |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Jack & Mavis Lee (UK) From: Jim Dixon Date: 01 Nov 03 - 12:12 AM There's a Phantom Crapper story right here at Mudcat, in the thread called BS: Embarrassing moments... I don't suppose it's the same story, though. If you search for "Phantom Crapper" at Google you'll find lots of stories about Phantom Crappers. |
