Ok folks, given my excellent success with finding sessions in Cornwall, I'm now after sessions and clubs in the Brum-wolves-walsall-sedgely-gornall continuum... anyone got the answers? where is the music? Where can I go to try out new material and pick up new songs?

thanks all

Anna

Have a look at this.
There are a few places listed in that area.

It's 40 years since I was on the B'ham scene but I think the Jug O'Punch folk club still exists, it was at the Crown(?) in Digbeth in my day, most recently (well a couple of years ago) it was at Lyndhurst Hotel Kingsbry Rd B24 on the first Sunday of each month but there are plenty of other 'Catters in/from the area who are more up to date than I am.

RtS
(formerly "the young man in the corner" at the Opposite Lock Jazz Club in Gas Street, B'ham, then the "middle aged man in the corner" at the 100 Club in Oxford St, London, now the "old fart in the corner" Jagz, Ascot.)

I know of a couple of good Folk Clubs in Birmingam.

1) The Birmingham Traditional Music club is held at the Coach and Horses Adderley street, Digbeth (centre of Brum) every Sunday night, starting at 8.30pm until late. It's a good club with both singers and musicians welcome. There's a webpage www.btinternet.com/~radical/btmc

2) There's also 'The Black Diamond' Folk Club. The Black Diamond was at the crown and is now at the Turks Head which is on the corner of Lawson Street (pretty near the city centre). Its on Friday nights and the webpage is; www.btinternet.com/~radical/diamond

Hope you get there!

The Red Lion and The Bogery (which is in solihull) I think they both have websites but I'll leave you to do the looking.

Think that should be the 'Boggery'. Has Smallpiper got Bogeys on the brain?
