Maybe I'm a bit late but there's a new CD from La Bottine Souriante in the UK.I've been a fan for some years but some big changes have taken placew with the personnel. Someone out there may be able to tell me what the new line up is like. I can't help thinking that without Yves Lambert and Michel Bardeleau, they won't be the same....but indeed, can anyone tell the difference?. Has anyone reviewed the CD...or am I hot off the mark?

Lou Wigdor (of the Pioneer Valley Folklore Society, Amherst, MA) has a review of La Bottine Souriante in concert at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, which discusses the band's evolution - see Lou's Reviews.

There are a few samples from the new CD "J'ai jamais tant ri" here.

The above review is fantastic, and I wholeheartedly agree with it, Still it's sad to feel Yves Lambert very solid presence missing, and I dont know what happened to the previous fiddler, and foot percussionisy. They performed in their new format at Sidmouth this year, and were as spectacular musically as ever. I'm not sure that the very lovely dancer was needed as a focus, and personally the band is almost too slick nowadays. I still bought the Cordiale CD, and like it a lot. I think their best CD is still La Mistrine- just as they started their arrangement experiments.

Thanks, fogie...I was hoping someone, somewhere had heard the new record and could be honest about it!. Have not been worried about buying their records until now!

the very lovely dancer may be sandy silva
she danced with them at a california festival
the fellow with the foot percussion was also
with them...isn't that the name sake fo the band..
as i recall the name means smiling shoe or
laughing boot

sandy has danced with mark graham, seattle area
song writer.
when they were a duo, he played harmonica and
she did percussive dancing...in vaudeville
known as "hoofing"...they called themselves
Hoof and Mouth.

both of them were in a band called open house
'or full house
