Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST, of Honor Date: 30 Dec 03 - 11:46 AM I stumbled across a thread in Usenet awhile back, that was titled "Mudcat Duffers". To give you, dear Guest, guest some idea of how highly revered the men responding to you in this thread are, here is what member Matty Groves had to say about them, in a post to rec.music.folk on 26 May 2002: My nominations for Mudcat's leading duffers: 1) McGrath of Harlow Perhaps the most pompous of all the pompous "know-it-alls" on the Net. 2) Big Mick Not far behind McGrath in the pomposity department. Be careful though, he carries a gun. 3) Catspaw49 He seems to post about a thousand times a day on nothing in particular. 4) WYSIWYG She'll pray for you if your cat has a furball. 5) dick greenhaus He thinks Bob Dylan can't sing or write songs. He promises to correct all the false information in the Digital Tradition just as soon as hell freezes over. Those are my nominations. Others are welcome. |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: Big Mick Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:15 PM Thank you, Janet. I think that given this thread was started by another troll, that this is the place we can hash out whatever you want to hash out. I will not respond to you when you try to hijack others threads, but I will be happy to have it out with you here. So answer me a question. If your intent is honorable, then why do you post under several names and sometimes set up questions, and then answer them yourself? You try to make my status as a clone the issue, but I only point out when you are up to hijinks. What bothers you is that you can't insult people in anonymity, right? Mick |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: harpgirl Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:22 PM Hey Mick...Do you have any interst in trading that Larrivee for my Gibson Jumbo with the mustache bridge? I think I'm going to trade it for something else? Any interest from anyone else? |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST,Band of Big Bros Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:25 PM This is VERY HEARTWARMING. You actually think what Mudcat members say or do bothers me. I'm really very touched by that sentiment. I'll be sure you are the first one to know when I start giving a shit about opinions of the Mudcat membership. |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: wysiwyg Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:28 PM Hm-- made a man, a duffer, and a goofytheist in one post. :~) Funny, I don't FEEL any different... same old me doing dishes and checking on Mudcat projects. Well, yeah, I did pray for Jed while washing up and playing that nice Brian Peters CD, but not for his dog, really..... Is that rec.music.folk where the trolls hang out when they aren't here? Is that where the Silly Season planning takes place? Seems there is a crowd of usual suspects who suddenly start posting with some synchronicity-- people who don't post about anything at all for long stretches, then they turn up here with some kinda hair across their collective and individual asses. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: Big Mick Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:29 PM Damn, Janet, you disapoint me. I expected a decent harangue and all I get is a metaphorical.."Oh, yeah...". Oh well.... |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:32 PM How PATHETIC is it that Mudcat royalty feels they have to play this silly little game? Perhaps it is because Sir Big Mick has a teenie dick? |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:40 PM I'll bet that was meant to be funny, wasn't it? I know that being funny is a real challenge for you harpie, but you just keep trying. |
|
Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: Big Mick Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:42 PM Interesting, Janet, that you would use the term "pathetic" in the same post that your only response is to refer to genitalia. Let me reassure you of two things that you seem to be interested in. First, my gear will meet all appropriate standards. Second, you will never find that out in any meaningful way. I have given you the chance to defend your actions, and the best you can muster is another inappropriate comment. So much for your intellectual capacity. Mick |
|
Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: Jeri Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:45 PM It takes two to play a 'silly game'. Can we have some originality here? If I'm going to set up the peanut concession, I need more than a 'teeny dick' to invest in the nuts. Mick, first you're dressed up like a storm trooper, now you've got a knight's costume on. You got a pirate outfit anywhere? |
|
Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:47 PM Oooooh, Bog Mick, watching you brag about your genitalia is DAMN HYSTERICAL. Really--I mean that. We ARE laughing AT YOU. |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:50 PM Anyone else recall Jeri lecturing the membership on how they should rise above the flaming the guest game? Me too. She can be real HOLIER THAN THOU when the it suits her, can't she? |
|
Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: harpgirl Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:51 PM actually, GUEST, my friends do think I'm funny in person but it's true, not nearly so brilliantly funny as Morticia or Pat Patterson or LTS or Bobert in his fantasy character or Kendall I hate to admit it) .... We have some brilliant wit around this place. I wouldn't count myself among them. I think I'm kinda ordinary, actually....love, harpgirl |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: harpgirl Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:56 PM Actually , LR, I do admire your ability to ferret out our weaknesses and to expose our false buffoonery. Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST Date: 30 Dec 03 - 12:58 PM Aw, pooooor harpie. Does someone need to have their temperature taken, or are you just looking for someone to validate your low self-esteem to win sympathy from your fellow members? Because if you think we bought the humble act, I have swampland in Florida to sell you. Oh wait, that's where you already live. |
|
Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: Big Mick Date: 30 Dec 03 - 01:07 PM Really, Janet, your attempts to shift the premise are so amateurish. Do the patrons of the symphony know of your strange obsessions? First you bring genitalia into the discussion because you are not capable of defending your actions, then you attack when I acknowledge your pitiful attempts. And Janet....you can stop using the term WE because you only speak for yourself. That is another sign of a troll and a terrorist. You try to make it seem as though there are many of you, when actually you only speak for yourself. I know I only speak for myself, and that some will agree and some will not. You are the classic bully. You seek to impose your will on others through the perception of group action. But when called on it, you resort to comments such as you made above. Got anything else? Mick |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: harpgirl Date: 30 Dec 03 - 01:09 PM Oh yeah, whatever sweety. I think I'll go have lunch. I'm having Iron Ore Stew. I'll post the recipe for you later, sweety...love, harp True, I'm only humble occasionally.... |
|
Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: Big Mick Date: 30 Dec 03 - 01:14 PM Yeah, me too, Harp. It appears that the best this person can do is continue to simply sling mud. No ability to respond to specific questions because the actions can't be defended. I am going to get lunch and do some more work. I will check back later to see if JR can come up with anything worth responding too. Mick |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST Date: 30 Dec 03 - 01:14 PM Look Look! Watch Big Mick raise sanctimoniousness to the level of PERFORMANCE ART! A sad, clueless performance, but still...he needs to believe no one but anon guests (who all look like terrorists to him) perceive him as a loser. So let's humor him, and let him play his game role of BARD BUSYBODY. Better that then him getting out his guns to play Mudcat Robocop. |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 30 Dec 03 - 01:26 PM "Top o' the world, Ma!" Thanks, "GUEST of Honor", for drawing that one to my attention - and, of course, to the discerning Matty Groves. |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST Date: 30 Dec 03 - 01:29 PM Hey kids--buy a clue! It is only YOU--THE USUAL MUDCAT SUSPECTS who STARTED this guest flamefest from the gitgo!!! But I'm sure no one noticed that you members ARE the problem here. Good idea to quit now, because it gets really embarrassing for you when other members refuse to join in your high school taunting game. |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST,guest Date: 30 Dec 03 - 02:01 PM How do Big Mick and Jeri know I am not the same guest as the other guests in this thread? How does harpgirl get her information about where a guest is from? Are there secret police spying on posters at this website? Thank again, DaisyMay. |
|
Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: Jeri Date: 30 Dec 03 - 02:42 PM Dear DaisyMay - you're exposing yourself. I was addressing Janet Ryan and didn't so much as mention any other guests in this thread. Harpgirl wasn't referring to a guest in her 'Ohio' comment. I know for sure who Matty Groves was. I saw the thread in RMF. You can't really be anonymous in Usenet (or e-mail lists, for that matter) unless you're willing to go to extreme lengths and he posted some stuff with his real name. Easy to compare headers to see if they match. People who do this sort of stuff inevitably think they're smarter than the people they're slagging off (or their friends) and won't get caught. They're usually wrong. As to that 'rising above the flaming' thing, it might have worked if people didn't enjoy it so much. It's like having a bit of a rumble without the chance of physical harm. Of course, if people find themselves getting emotionally injured, it's probably not a good activity. I was frustrated because I saw what I thought was people getting hurt. Now, I know that being involved in this sort of thing is a choice. I just don't have the interest or time needed for an extended sparring match. |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST,Really Frightened Daisy May Date: 30 Dec 03 - 03:14 PM Jericurl and Big Prick Fight the Phantom GUEST Janet Ryan. harpiegirl Fights the Phantom Lepux Rex. Apparently a number of you think that "exposing" posters on the internet is a noble cause. We don't know exactly WHY you entertain these paranoid thoughts, but we hope you keep the reasons for doing so between you and your therapist. Big Mick responded to Guest of Honor very early on in this thread: "...given this thread was started by another troll..." Now Jeri, we aren't all net luddites. We know when you are guessing a guest's "style" (not clever subterfuge to anyone with even the most rudimentary knowledge of web forums) by peeking at IPs and talking out of school about guest and member posters the Royals love to hate. It's how you keep the minions with you. It is amazing that after all these years such a stupid tactic actually does work to keep the "not the brightest bulb" Mudcat plebes in their place, safely inside your fortress walls, looking for legendary phantoms of your own creation. But then again, we also know just how much joy some of you get PISSING ALL OVER GUESTS (because YOU have that AWESOME power!) by CLAIMING to "expose" guest identities. We've seen all the reruns of Max and the Clones telling us "DON'T LOOK AT THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN! I AM THE GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ!" stuff. No one gives a shit if you know who Matty Groves, Daisy May, Janet Ryan, or Lepus Rex is or isn't. Why? Because it doesn't fucking matter--IT IS THE INTERNET. |
|
Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST,MMario Date: 30 Dec 03 - 03:28 PM it doesn't matter it's the internet... that's about on a par with - "It doesn't count - it's only phone sex" or "I was only taking pictures! "(in reference to child porn) You know what? The internet is PART of the REAL world these days - if it weren't - identity theft wouldn't be such a big problem. |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST,Shirley Temple Date: 30 Dec 03 - 03:41 PM Now, now MMario, why is your mind dwelling in the gutter? Didn't your mum ever tell you that anonymous/pseudonymous posting isn't a behavior that even remotely equates with paedophilia, prostitution, or terrorism, despite many a Mudcat dim bulb's rueful attempts to conflate it as such? Not that you paranoid personality types don't have your enemies. :) Have a nice day! |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: GUEST,Martha Stewart Date: 30 Dec 03 - 05:26 PM KimC, since the clone elfs closed Crackpot Recipe thread, let me quickly respond to you here, before they close this one off too. You said there: "Ummmmm, I thought we was just talking about cooking." Oh poor naive one. This is SO not about cooking. It is about you only getting ONE name, ONE cookie, and not being able to pick from the Already Taken List of Character PseudoNames. I, on the other hand, don't like cookies. So I not only get my cake, I get to eat too AND have all the beautiful names I could possibly want. This makes some Mudcat cookie owners very jealous and angry. So they stomp and they yell and they call us lovely guests names of phantasms and ghosts of guests and members past, or just laugh and call us bad names. I guess it is supposed to hurt our feelings when they hurl their epithets of "Lepus Rex" or "Janet Ryan" or "Malcolm Douglas" or "terrorist" or "paedophile" at us. I have no idea WHY they think it will JUST MAKE US eat those bitter tasting Mudcat cookies, because of course, it never does. No matter how many flaming cooking threads they start. It may have been awhile, but the Mudcat Inquisition Games have begun again! |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: Big Mick Date: 30 Dec 03 - 08:25 PM Now Lepus, let's not confuse the issue. You are pulling the same crap that your regional cell mate, Ms. Ryan pulls. You create havoc, then when folks respond you try to shift the issue. This isn't because I need to have you use one name. In fact, I haven't even spoke of you because you weren't the one belittling folks, and then posting with rhetoric designed to make it appear as though you were several people. In another thread the troller admitted that she was "having fun" at the expense of other folks. Then when someone decides to have some fun at her expense, she goes berserk and starts screaming about terrorists. What a crackup! Same with Ryan. She gets her chain yanked and goes crazy. I laugh when I think of the responses....the best she can do is come up with "teeny dick" responses. Trollers hate it when they get put on the spot. Their response proves it. You folks love creating a phoney issue and then reacting with moral outrage when someone calls you on it. You can dress it up anyway you want, but it still comes down to that. Mick |

Subject: RE: Forums/Discussion Groups From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 30 Dec 03 - 09:49 PM Actually. the question about other discussion sites simmilar to Mudcat is quite an interesting one, even if it wasn't intended as such. But this thread isn't perhaps the best place to get into it. |
