Subject: Lyr Req: Heaven in a Pair of Wooden Shoes?
From: GUEST,Tabitha Stone tabitha@sarahd.net

There's a song that my grandmother used to sing when I was little, and unfortunately, I can't remember all of the words. She just recently passed away, and this tune has been stuck in my head since then. I'd really like to find the lyrics if at all possible. Below is what I remember and is a little choppy. I'd really appreciate if anyone can give me any help with this.

In an old Dutch garden
where the tulips grow
That's where I first whispered
That I love you so
..a smile danced by
It was then that I
Found Heaven in a pair of wooden shoes.

Then one sad day
When summer meets September
I sailed away
from a dream I still remember

In an old Dutch garden
by an old Dutch mill
That's where ....
That she'll be waiting still
And my heart will yearn
Until I return
To Heaven in a pair of wooden shoes

IN AN OLD DUTCH GARDEN (BY AN OLD DUTCH MILL)
Words by Mack Gordon, music by Will Grosz, 1939
Recorded by Hank Snow

In an old Dutch garden by an old Dutch mill
Where the moon was dreaming on a distant hill
When a smile danced by it was then that I
Saw heaven in a pair of wooden shoes

In an old Dutch garden where the tulips grow
That's when first I whispered that I love you so
For my heart was blue till I gave it to
An angel in a pair of wooden shoes

Then one sad day
When summer meets September
I sailed away
From a thrill I will remember

In an old Dutch garden by an old Dutch mill
Ev'ry day I pray that you are waiting still
For my heart will yearn until I return
To heaven in a pair of wooden shoes!

I do believe that this old favorite is by Glenn Miller.

Subject: Lyr Add: HEAVEN IN A PAIR OF COWBOY BOOTS

Hi,

Ain't that cute? Still, for those who, apparently like Glenn Miller, are not familiar with The Netherlands, let me give the equivalent for the composer's home country: The United States of America.

HEAVEN IN A PAIR OF COWBOY BOOTS
(Tune - Glenn Miller: Heaven in a Pair of Wooden Shoes)
(Lyrics - Mysha: Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg)

On a wide green prairie under clear blue sky
Where above the Rockies a bright moon stood high
When a smile rode by it was then that I
Saw heaven in a pair of cowboy boots

In an wide green prairie where the buffaloes walk
That is where we whispered our sweet lovers' talk
Yes, my heart was blue till I gave it to
An angel in a pair of cowboy boots

Then one sad day
When spring turned to May-time
I rode away but I still recall each daytime

On a wide green prairie under clear blue sky
Ev'ry day I regret that we said goodbye
For my heart will yearn until I return
To heaven in a pair of cowboy boots!

To be played and sung, of course, with a good measure of the West.

P.H.M.
