Hi everyone,

I saw that there were discussions on cigar box guitars here and thought some of you may appreciate this:

The Cigar Box Guitar Forum
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cigarboxguitars) has made 6 different
sets of cigar box guitar plans available to it's members. There's
even detailed cigar box banjo instructions from 1870. All plans are
located in the group's FILES section. Although you have to be a
member to download the plans, you can still lurk around and check out
all the posts.

Historic plans include:
1. Circa 1870 cigar box banjo plans
2. 1931 Cigar Box Ukulele
3. 1941 Cigar Box Violin (4 string)
4. 1949 Cigar Box Violin/Cello (1 string)
5. Mid-1970's Cigar Box Bass
6. 1976 Cigar Box Guitar (2 string)

There's also a Cigar Box Guitar Festival in Kentucky this May. (www.cigarboxguitarfest.com)

Yes, because assembly line Chinese guitars are so much better.
Nothing against the people of china. Just not very good quality.

I have an octave mandolin, made in Korea, that is excellent quality.

Seems to me that Jimmy Driftwood played a home made guitar. Real funky sound.
