With regard to 9/11 and 3/11 (Madrid train bombing), does anyone besides me feel queasy about visiting on 6/11 a major historical site, traveling over a major bridge, or boarding a long distant flight?

I'll be at the Mystic SeaMusic Festival in Connecticut. Where will you be?

I'll be at work, and since I don't live in a major capital or city, or work anywhere near likely targets, or use public transportation to get to and from my job, I'm not worried.

But that said, none of us really knows why the dates of 9/11 or 6/11 should be significant to the terrorists, do we? And attacks haven't only on those dates, and on those dates, attacks haven't always occurred.

Charley, is it basically logical that old sailing ships in a small town are sufficiently lowtech that they would never be a terrorist target? Or is it just that one might as well have fun while waiting?

I'll be driving down to LA for my grandson's graduation. Lightning doesn't strike cabbages.

I don't really think it's a good idea to worry too about about this kind of numerology.   The chances of getting killed in a terrorist bombing are pretty small, and that's worth keeping in mind.

We are much much more likely to be killed in an old fashioned accident, driving home from work or something like that.

In a particular situation, keep your eyes open, obviously, watch out for abandoned parcels and such, and don't gripe when you get delayed by someone searching bags.

The other day I was in a station in London, and there was an announcement on the PA system warning people not to leave their bags unattended, in case they got taken for a bomb,and the station had to be evacuated. And then it went on to announce that station staff would be at the station exits with buckets, collecting for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

I liked that, unflappable, the Blitz spirit. Life goes on. Don't get your knickers in a twist. Someone might be planning to blow you up? What's new about that anyway?.

Oh, I don't know! 9/11 seemed like 911 to me, an obvious reference to the US emergency telephone number. And 3/11 seemed like another variation on that, 6 months apart. If someone is fascinated with numbers, why not work on the quarterly schedule. If that's what they're doing, and the CIA or FBI or NSA ignores it, someone should feel particularly stupid that they didn't issue an alert. I did!

As to being around ancient ships, Franz, I'm not worried about the ones at Mystic, but I might avoid the US Constitution in Boston Harbor, or for that matter the HMS Victory at Portsmouth, UK.

And, I agree, that 12/11 makes just as much sense. No, don't panic but it may be worth a thought. And, no, I don't have any inside information.

I think the president of my co op board is not in his right mind. Unfortunately, he has fixated on me. I'm looking to move as soon as I can get the place looking halfway decent, and find a house I can afford. So, I'm not sure where I'll be.
