Subject: John McSherry From: GUEST,Dáithí Date: 28 Jun 04 - 09:57 AM Well I was sitting playing my poor whistle with a couple of others in Biddy's in Glencolumbkille, Co Donegal, last week. Ther ewere only four of us - a box player, two singer/gutarists and me..plus a piper called John. Turns out he was John McSherry - founder member of Lunasa, featured artist on numerous CDs,(Clannad, Coolfin with Donal Lunny etc etc etc) and described by Lunny as "..the finest exponent of the uilleann pipes I know..). And he never even mentioned he was a world touring professional .. There's a refreshing modesty for you! For the record, it was a great night too! Dáithí |

I'll look for the CD you mention Michael, cheers. (BTW the box player - one Peter Brown - was brilliant too;lots of interpretation, (what old time jazz fans would call syncopation I s'pose - brilliant!) Cheers - Dáithí |
