As many of you know Freda Underhill is coming to the UK all the way from Oz and would love to have a seesion in the Black Lion Pub in Plaistow East London. The landlord says it is fine to have sessions in the pub on Sundays.

I know it will be small session as many of you will be at Whitby Folk Festival but it will be wonderful to see some of you there to give Freda a warm welcome to the UK. Would it be better to have an afternoon session...perhaps start at about 3pm and finish whenever??....let me know if you can make it and if the time is ok!!

Whoops - only just noticed that it's an afternoon session - should be able to make it. At least I could get back through Blackwall Tunnel before they close it at 9pm.

If anyone needs crash space, or even a bed, we have plenty of room. Children welcome, non smokers preferred (they don't taste so good).

So.... lunch at our house beforehand then.... sort of buffet style is best so if you want to bring anything liquid or solid, feel free. Food will be served from midday onwards.

Then at about 3 we shall repair to the Sooty Cat to perpetrate folk music.

After that, you're on yer own!

I will be at the session from3pm until about 5pm as I have to go and run a moot in Chingford! I have spoken the landlord and he is looking forward to some music in the pub again!!

We will have not long returned from Belgium so cheese might not be required.

I have been known to knock up a few veggie things myself (my rissoles are legendary) so don't worry about just being given a lettuce!

OK, a miracle occurred - we came back from Belgium with not a bit of cheese (and I've eaten most of the chocolate) so if anyone really wants to bring something, cheese is welcome.

It's going to be an interesting lunch - the microwave/oven broke on Tuesday.

Can't even remotely hope to join you, but I wish you well, because back in the late seventies me, my partner Anne and Gerry Milne used to run a singaround in the very same pub.
