Subject: Origins: Do we hardly know ye marching, Johnny?? From: Pogo Date: 04 Aug 04 - 07:25 PM Something I've wondered about for a while (and since I feel I'd better post something music related for a change {OD)... When Johnny Comes Marching Home and Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye...which orginated the other? Both have basically the same tunes...my money would be on Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye but you folk music history buffs might know better. and just as a side note, what was the inspirations for both songs? |
