Subject: BS: Shower or Bath? From: GUEST,SueB Date: 18 Aug 04 - 11:35 AM Have we done this one before? Katherine Hepburn apparently liked to take frequent cool showers, sometimes as many as 5 a day. I'm partial to a long hot soak with a good book. I believe my record is 2 hours and 35 minutes, but I had to keep adding hot water. |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: s6k Date: 18 Aug 04 - 12:45 PM this is just rude and if you ask me = you dont have to get out of the bath to have a wee! as for reading a book in the bath for 2 hours and more minutes, well i couldnt manage 2 minutes because = i got too sweaty, and the pages of the book started getting damp. i think both have their advantages. bath = you feel more refreshed when you get out shower = dont have to run it first, quick. if you ask me, you should get a bath, and then get rinsed in the shower. |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: Georgiansilver Date: 18 Aug 04 - 01:12 PM Can we construe that whosoever does not add to this thread must take neither a shower or a bath? as they must see the title and must have a preference if they use either or both! I love an occasional bath but prefer a shower for getting clean as it takes all the unwanted bits away, where a bath just forms a scum that sticks to your body as you climb out. Best wishes. |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: Rabbi-Sol Date: 18 Aug 04 - 01:24 PM I suffer from hemerhoids so the doctor has prescribed a hot bath every morning. However, at night, before going to bed, I also take a shower as well. SOL ZELLER |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: Sorcha Date: 18 Aug 04 - 03:25 PM Showers are for quick, hair washing and getting clean. Baths are for lounging, soaking, bubbles, and sore muscles. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: GUEST,Lilyfestre Date: 18 Aug 04 - 03:44 PM I'm in agreement with Sorcha! Showers for getting clean, baths for relaxation....and then a shower to get all the bubble stuff off!!!! My Dr. says that a bubble (or otherwise) bath is the worst thing a woman can possibly do for her body. And um.....do you folks NOT get out of the shower to pee or better yet...how about going before you even get in the shower! YUCK! Michelle |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: s6k Date: 18 Aug 04 - 04:48 PM what about people who wee in the bath |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: jacqui.c Date: 18 Aug 04 - 04:54 PM Shower - definitely. Cleaner and more convenient. I very rarely have the time for a bath. anyway - it's easier to clean the shower than the bath. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: GUEST,Lilyfestre Date: 18 Aug 04 - 05:45 PM Weeing in the bath? Well, each to his own but I think that is just NASTY! I don't understand why anyone would do that!!!! If you are going to do that, why not just grab a washcloth and clean yourself from the toilet bowl? Gross! Michelle |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: Seaking Date: 18 Aug 04 - 06:27 PM You can light candles around a bath but they tend to go out in a shower.... |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: s6k Date: 18 Aug 04 - 06:28 PM no because the water to wee ratio is much greater in the bath than the toilet bowl... in the toilet bowl.. it is about a ratio of 1:3 (wee:water) but in that bath it is about 1:80... so you see, its more healthy |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: GUEST Date: 18 Aug 04 - 06:46 PM I wish baths had adjustable ends, or at least one. I imagine it must be really comfortable to lie in a bath with feet hitting the tap end. But they are always too long and I slide down and submerge. And I am an average five foot five incher. |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: Sorcha Date: 18 Aug 04 - 07:55 PM OK, well, urine is STERILE when it comes out of the body.....uric acid is a MAIN igredident in ALL skin softening products....just look. Urea/uric acid...... On the other hand.... Feces contains many, many bacteria.....among them, E. Coli....which is VER VER bad if ingested orally.....can kill you. Urine will NEVER kill you. Actually, urine is GOOD for you...and is used for LOTS of things...... Tanning leather, waulking wool, skin softening...etc....it does not smell of ammonia until after standing for quite a while.... Don't ask me how I learn this stuff....LOL. I just do. But, trust me, look at your skin softening agent ingredients...I garuntee you that Urea is in there.....it comes from urine. WHAT is it with this? We were talking about this in the chat room jsut a few days ago....LOL! |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: Sooz Date: 19 Aug 04 - 03:43 PM I can beat that SueB. I once read a whole novel in one bath - it was Last tango in Paris I think. About 3 hours with several water changes. You don't get properly wet in showers, and those with a fixed head simply do not reach the bits that face downwards. Its a bath every time for me with bubbles and a book - in fact thats where I'm going right now. |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: jimmyt Date: 19 Aug 04 - 04:25 PM I have scoured the map of England, and although I have readily located Bath, Shower seems to elude me. 1)Could Shower be in Scotland? 2) perhaps it has a prefix word, ie Chipping Shower, or WInterbourne Shower, or Lower Shower? 3) maybe a suffex word like Shower on Sea, Shower under the Hill, Shower Super Mare? I will continue studying the map.............. |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: Ellenpoly Date: 20 Aug 04 - 07:06 AM I prefer showers every time. If I sit in a hot bath, I begin to think about how easy it would be to take my shaving razor out and slit my wrists. In a shower, I don't have time for such thoughts. ..xx..e (only half joking) |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: Metchosin Date: 20 Aug 04 - 07:13 AM I love my old clawfoot bathtub, it was definitely designed for comfort. In a past life it used to belong to Mother Superior and I speculate that it only had nuns and virgins in it until I first dipped my toe. IMO baths get you cleaner than showers, as the heat opens your pores, makes you sweat and a good long soak softens dead skin, making it easier to remove. If I want to freshen up, I have a shower, but if I want too relax, soothe sore muscles and really get the grime out, a bath with a quick rinse off at the end is the answer. I've never witnessed really clean laundry as a result of just spraying it with water, either. |

Subject: RE: BS: Shower or Bath? From: JennyO Date: 20 Aug 04 - 11:30 AM All this talk of baths and drinking reminded me of a joke I heard years ago. I found a version of it, although in the one I remember, it was a glass of scotch: Cure for the cold When Pat and Mike met each other on the street one day, Pat noticed that Mike had a terrible cold. "Have you seen a doctor about that cold?" he asked. "No," said Mike, "But I probably should. Do you know a good doctor?" Pat gave him the name of his own doctor and assured him that he'd be in good hands. About a week later, they met again and Pat wasn't sure if the cold was really better. "Did you see my doctor?" Pat inquired. "Oh, yeah," Mike replied. He was a really nice guy!" "Well, did he give you something to help your cold"? "Sure did!" Mike answered, somewhat enthusiastically. "He told me to drink a big glass of fresh orange juice after a hot bath." "Well, did it help?" Pat asked hesitantly. "How do I know?" Mike retorted. "I haven't even finished drinking the bath yet!" |
