It's tobacco.
"Burley tobacco, a variety known for its low sugar content, is unique to central Kentucky. Burley tobacco is harvested plant by plant, and slowly air-cured. These harvest and curing techniques, among many production practices described in Tobacco Culture, distinguish burley tobacco from other varieties found in the southern United States."
