Subject: New Folk Club (Mostly Folk) From: GUEST,Angela and Mike White Date: 18 Sep 04 - 04:05 PM A new folk club is starting on Monday 20th September at the Barge Inn, Keadby. (Near Scunthorpe) Starting at 8.00 - 11.00 it is hoped that, if we have enough support, we will go fortnightly from then on. Everyone is welcome, please come along and support us. Entry is free. Judging by those who have expressed an interest already, the music should be a mix of traditional, contemporary and acoustic. We welcome singers, musicians, chorus singers, poets, story tellers and listners. If you have folk instruments bring them along and join in or give us a tune. We want a relaxed friendly atmosphere with no pressure just sharing music. You can contact us on 01427 753918 or the Landlord of the Barge (Paul) on 01724 784500. Look forward to seeing old friends and making new. Angela and Mike White |

That's on a Monday as well. We might get up there with some "Folkaholicks" one day. On Saturday 4th Dec we are having a 12 hour singaround. 12 noon til 12 midnight, be nice to see some of you there. |

Subject: RE: New Folk Club (Mostly Folk) From: Sooz Date: 20 Sep 04 - 12:41 PM I've tried unsuccessfully to get in touch with Mike and Angela to find out about the venue. Nr Sooz rang the pub and although they sounded very nice, they did say that the club would be in the bar with smoking allowed. I'm afraid that means that we won't be going. |

Subject: RE: New Folk Club (Mostly Folk) From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 21 Sep 04 - 08:29 AM Yep, the prospect of poisonous fumes and stinking clothes put me off too. Shame, I was looking forward to playing somewhere new. Ah well, can't win 'em all.............. |
|
Subject: RE: New Folk Club (Mostly Folk) From: GUEST,pete Date: 22 Sep 04 - 04:52 AM so how did it go? any positive comments? |
|
Subject: RE: New Folk Club (Mostly Folk) From: the fence Date: 22 Sep 04 - 10:10 AM The venue itself was very good, if the smoking could be put aside for the one night it would be a good night for all folkies involved. Other artists were there doing different bits and pieces including some contemporary songs, I hope it all goes well for them. |
