Subject: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: Bobert Date: 20 Oct 04 - 10:29 PM Right now, the Boston Red Sox lead the N.Y. Yankees 8-1 in the 5th inning. Can they hold on and make history of coming back from loosing the first 3 games? Well, I'm certainly hoping so... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: Susan A-R Date: 20 Oct 04 - 11:32 PM It really makes you aware of how this team does it the hard way. I still don't really believe it, and it's 9 - 3 going into the 9th. There's something traumatic in that, but I THINK we're going to do it, and you'll probably hear the yell all the way from VT. Maybe this really is the year????? |

Subject: RE: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: John MacKenzie Date: 21 Oct 04 - 05:45 AM I bought a Red Sox T shirt in a WalMart in Mass. I still don't understand baseball. I once bought Tony Jacklin golf socks [not red] and still can't play golf either. So much for celebrity endorsements. Giok |

Subject: RE: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: GUEST,peedeecee Date: 21 Oct 04 - 07:01 AM The curse is to do with the World Series, not the ALCS. But there's some nice symmetry this year, for those who are superstitious: the Sox haven't won a pennant since '86, and haven't won a World Series for 86 years. So for numerologists in the crowd, perhaps 86 can be worked into something good. I remember watching Wade Boggs in tears after the final game in '86 --it sure gets intense. I'd love to see them win. |

Subject: RE: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: Charley Noble Date: 21 Oct 04 - 09:41 AM There's NO WAY the Red Soxs can win over the Yankees, no way, no way...it's in their contract...it's in their genes...it's as ridiculous as Kerry winning over Bush...well, maybe there's hope after all!!! Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: Nerd Date: 21 Oct 04 - 02:19 PM I just hope Curt can throw in the big show...he showed a lot of heart, bleeding from the ankle for several innings of game 6! |

Subject: RE: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: Blackcatter Date: 21 Oct 04 - 03:04 PM Yes let's "feel for" a millionaire who has to work hurt. Where were you when I had to work construction with 3 broken ribs? |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: Nerd Date: 21 Oct 04 - 03:21 PM Blackcatter, If I'd known you had to work with broken ribs, I would have sympathized at the time. You're a nice guy, but you are being kind of a jerk about Schilling. He didn't just "have to work hurt." He shut down the Yankee lineup for seven innings, something 90% of major league pitchers can't do at a hundred percent. He did it the day they stitched the skin of his ankle to the bone in order to hold his achilles tendon in place. He didn't have to do it (as you can imagine, he'd still be a millionaire if he did not do it). He chose to do it, for the love of his team. So forgive me for feeling like he gave it a little something extra. |

Subject: RE: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: Bill D Date: 21 Oct 04 - 04:23 PM I'm sure the Cardinals & Astros know that there will be extra fan sentiment for the Red Sox this series....and that the Sox will play extra hard to get this monkey off their back. Ya' never know... |

Subject: RE: BS: Can the BoSox Pull it off? From: Susan A-R Date: 21 Oct 04 - 09:36 PM I WANT to believe that this is the year, but when you can't believe that the team is actually going to win in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and a 7 run lead, there's something a little troubling in that. My Uncle Proc died a little over a week ago, the day after the sox clinched their berth in the ALCS. He was aware right up to the end of the game, and delighted that they'd made it. I have had a vivid image of my Uncle Proc, my Dad and my Granddad up there drinking beer and eating popcorn and swearing at the television along with the rest of the BoSox fan celestial hosts.
