I don't know if this will help or not. I can't find the words to Durante's "Inka Dinka Do," but if you have RealPlayer, you can hear him singing it HERE. Just scroll down and click on the link.

Once upon a time they played that "FO-LO-DEE-OH-DO"
But that was long ago..
Then they started singin' that "BOO-BOOP-EE=DO"
But they got tired of that, you know.
Now here's a little tune that's goin' 'round,
You can hear it all over town,

   They're singin':

Ink, a dink a dink,
A dink a dink
A dink a doo,
Oh what a tune for croonin.,
Ink a dink a dink
A dink a dink
A dink a doo,
It's got the whole world swoonion'
Eskimo belles up in Iceland
Have got themsselves a real paradise land
Singin'
Ink a dink a dink
A dink a dink
A dink a doo
Ink a dink a dink,
s dink a doo.

Get a record opr a tape, you can't do this sort of thing justice on a writt4en page,

He did it in both "Joe Palooka" movies where he played "knobby Walsh",. Joe Palooka's manager.

Thank you Don & Jody. It brings back old memories of 52 + years ago when I last heard it at age 10.
"And good night Mrs. Calabash wherever you are."

Here's the catalog entry from The Indiana University Sheet Music Collections:

Title: INKA DINKA DOO
Composer: Durante, Jimmy
Lyricist: Ryan, Ben
Performer: Jimmy "Schnozzle" Durante
Publisher: Irving Berlin, Inc.
Place of publication: New York
Date of publication: 1933
Call Number: M1 .D48 Box: 032 Item: 055
Performance Medium: Piano, Voice and Chords
Larger Work: Joe Palooka
First Line: What is that haunting refrain you hear in the air?
Chorus First Line: Inka dinka doo, a dinka dee, a dinka doo.
Genre: Popular song

I would bet that the first set of nonsense words in the verse are an allusion to an older song, CRAZY WORDS, CRAZY TUNE, from 1927, which contains the words "Vo-do-de-o," etc.

Verse:
What is that haunting refrain that you hear in the air?
Here and there, ev'ry where,
It's just a beautiful strain that keeps taunting my brain constantly,
It's my melody it's my symphony.

Chorus:
InkA DinkDoo, A dinka dee, A dinka doo.
Oh, what a tune for crooning
InkA DinkDoo, A dink a dee, A dinka doo, It's got the whole world spooning.
Eskimo bells up in Iceland, Are ringing,
They've made their own Paradise Land, Singing
InkA DinkDoo, A dinka dee, A dinka doo,
Simply means InkA dinkA dee A dinka doo.

Jim Bottorff's Banjo Page also has a MIDI and lovely chords HERE. .
Regards, John

The song was also part of one of Johny Carson's odder Karnak jokes.

Answer: Inka Dinka Do

Question: What do you look for when you're tracking an Inka Dinka?

I was reading Jimmy's wikipedia page, but they don't mention anything about the weekly variety show he used to do every week back in the late '60s. I think the actual title was something like Jimmy Durante and the Lennon Sisters. Anyway I remember watching that show when I was a kid. It was pretty good.
