OK, I've been using the DT for a long time, now, and still have the old DOS-based database from many years ago on my hard drive. The reason I keep the old one around is that in the old version, you could search for catagories of songs by using an "@" sign before the topic word.

I've never been able to figure out if the web-based DT had an equivilant function. I do know that simply using the "@" sign doesn't work the same as it did -- it will still get the songs that have the keyword in them, but it also returns a lot of extraneous stuff as well.

Any tips?

One of the Quick Links at the top of the Forum page is to "DT keyword search." Click on that and see if it does what you need.

Why not download the new version. It has a proper Windows interface and you can choose to search on titles, song text, authors, keywords (equivalent to the old @name search) and a few other things as well. Select Download You Own Copy from the Quick Links dropdown above.

I should have added that it will also display the tune and play it for you if you want.

Some of us old farts still prefer to use the DOS version, because it has more search versatility. It works very well in a DOS window in Windows XP - the way I have it set up, I can start it with two keystrokes. Both versions (2002 edition) are available on our Download page. The 2004 edition is awaiting programming work.

Hmmm. The download page says "Windows installer contributed by Dave Hines." I don't know of a Dave Hines Windows version. Anybody know the scoop on this?

The "Windows Installer" is a canned utility for installing a Windows program. The "Dave Hines" may refer just to the installation utility - not to the Windows Version of DT itself?

Did the second generation windoze database and program ever get released? Is it still in development? Is there anything I can do to assist in its completion/release/distribution?
