Yes, I know there's Walton and Caversham, but it's also the Buntingford Winter Sing at the Crown this coming weekend. Any Catters (apart from me, who'll be there with Les Sullivan and Frogette) going?

Kitty

Hope to be there Saturday, despite broken left arm!

Unaccompanied songs and bowed psaltery intros are the order of the day as cannot play guitar.

Alan

Cllr Mike

I tried via Google and Stortfolk, but couldn't find details for this year.

I shall be at the Crown in Buntingford later today, anyway.

Kitty

Took 2 1/2 hours to get home so perhaps I should have stayed.

Excellent sing going on at the Crown & some Fab raffle prizes.   If you're local & thinking about going, get your coat on & join the sing!!!

Good to see Catters there :-)

Keith, Lanfranc, MGAS - it was good to see / hear you all yesterday. I even got to win some chocolates in the raffle!

Thanks to John and Libby for managing to organise the sing and raffle prizes while also sorting out their move to Devon - we may not have stuck rigidly to the printed programme but we all had a jolly good sing in a room with nice acoustics, plus excellent hospitality from our hosts at the Crown, Colin and Cherry.

It was a real thrill in that small room to do a chorus song and feel the lift as the company joined in, especially Kitty with her lovely harmonies.
Hope we can do it again sometime,
Keith.
( who forgot to get Les Sullivan and Kitty to sign their excellent CD!)

I wasn't able to get there till today, and when I turned up I gathered it didn't go over to the Sunday the way it normally has. I gatgered the numbers were a bit down this year too.

I suspect a few people who didn't make it may have got a bit mixed up about which weekend it was - I just checked back and in 2002 it was 1st to 3rd Novembewr, last year 14th to 16th, and this year as it turned out 19th to 20th. And it gets a bit cold this late in November for indoor camping.

Anyway, apologies for not getting there on time - if it's on next year I'll try to make it.

Hey! details are on Stortfolk (or at least the date is) under "parish notices" until I update anyway
Sincere apologies we didn't get there - family matters ........ :-( hope to redress our absence at New Year - if the mumming & song's happening.

Meanwhile those who'd like a bit of a sing are welcome to follow the wassail!

Yes sorry that I couldn't make it this year, but as Kitty said, it clashed with the Walton Shanty/Seasong weekend - perhaps we'll have to try and make sure that it doesn't happen next year. Of course you were missing another regular as Leraud was booked - both her and Keith worked very hard over the weekend.

I must admit that I didn't realise than Buntingford had been cut down to a single day event this year - the trouble is that it's a long way to drive for a single day.

Sorry to hear that Buntingford didn't have enough people this year - it always has been a whole weekend before - I did think of coming but nearly 200 miles is a long way to go this time of the year.

Hope it carries on as I reckon it will be the 10th one next year - I have the original programme!

There's a notice on the door of the Crown saying the Morris dancers will be there on New Year's Day at 12.30, with a song session in the pub after.
