And yes, Les, you have tracked down the very boozer. Daithi, if it is evening, I should be back from Somerset, and I might be able to raise a pussy from Lincolnshire Without. |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: Sooz Date: 02 Dec 04 - 02:22 PM You do realise that this weekend is the Lincoln Christmas Market and that access will be extremely difficult.... Park and ride is £8 per car from the showground and the area surrounding the castle is covered in stalls so some of the roads will be impassable. |
|
Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: Rasener Date: 02 Dec 04 - 02:41 PM Trust you to put the dampener on it Mrs Sooz :-) Only joking - see you tommorrow night. |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: Skipjack K8 Date: 02 Dec 04 - 06:42 PM Perhaps we can get exhibitors' passes? |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 03 Dec 04 - 05:12 AM Or even Exhibitionists! LOL S:0) |
|
Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 03 Dec 04 - 05:18 AM I went to the Christmas-Bloody-Rip-Off-Posing-As-A-Market last night. Cost me £8 to park on the Showground and get mud up to me gonads, and a cold, cold wait of 20 minutes or so while the bus filled up before it set off for the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. If you don't take the Park and Ride, it'll be a walk of at least a mile and a half carrying an instrument case from the nearest place where parking's possible. Sounds like a no-goer to me (sadly). |
Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: GUEST,Dáithí Ó Geanainn Date: 03 Dec 04 - 06:58 AM BUT....the marketcloses at 7pm on Sunday (having been held since Thursday) so I doubt it will be as busy as we might fear. I'll be there, anyhow! Dáithí |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 06 Dec 04 - 09:20 AM Some smokin' fiddle playing by a young lady whose name I didn't get. And some smokin' whistle playing by young Daithi - great stuff, shame I didn't get there till it was almost over. Ah well.............. S:0) |

It's my birthday on Sunday 12/12, so here's a warm welcome and open invitation to all my friends at the Barrow session, Lincoln Folk Club and anyone else to come along to the Sunday afternoon session at the Strugglers Inn Lincoln ( nestling under the Castle walls, just around the corner from The Lawnssee earlier postings above for address etc). It's a great traditional and unspoilt little pub serving real ale - we'll be in the downstairs marquee/beer garden from 3pm onwards.Let me know if you need directions etc! Hope you can all make it! Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: Skipjack K8 Date: 07 Dec 04 - 09:01 AM Daithi, nothing would be nicer than helping ease you into another year, but I'm afraid I will be embedded deep in the Essex marshes that night, all on me lonesome, prior to an early flight out Stansted next morning, so I cannae come. I will put undue pressure on Bloke tonight, though, and see if he can raise a posse. |
|
Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: GUEST,Dáithí Ó Geanainn Date: 07 Dec 04 - 09:31 AM Your nimble fingers and unerring ear will be sorely missed as usual, Skip! Give mr egards to the Essex Marshes - a nicer family of salt-panning fen-dwellers you couldn't hope to meet, I'm sure. And yes please, any pressure exerted on Bloke and others to organise a raid would be much appreciated. Travel safe! D |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: jacqui.c Date: 12 Dec 04 - 01:06 PM Well, we were there this afternoon and so were Banjo-Flower and Twelve String Growler. We heard from the landlord that Daithi had called in sick and no-one else turned up as a result. Anyway, we went ahead and had a mini session for a couple of hours - met another two Mudcatters and enjoyed ourselves. |
|
Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: 12string growler Date: 12 Dec 04 - 01:14 PM Good to meet JaquiC and Kendall at the mini session. We were well entertained by each other, and the punters seemed to enjoy it too. Daithi, next time you throw a sicky, don't try to put others off coming. I used to "run" a session and you could always reckon on it managing without you. We had a good time with JaquiC, Kendall and Banjo flower, but it could have been better had others not known you were ill. By eck Jaqui, you were on quick. Chris |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: YorkshireYankee Date: 13 Dec 04 - 12:09 PM If any of you Lincoln-area folks would like a second chance to meet up with Jacqui & Kendall (and are up for a trip to Sheffield – c'mon, it's not that far!), come join us on Sunday, 19 Dec, 8 pm (for 9) at the Kelham Island Tavern. (see this thread/post for more info) Great beer, great company, and a room with great acoustics for a sesh – what more could ya ask for? |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 13 Dec 04 - 12:18 PM Hey YY, it's not that far? It's an hour's drive from Sin City (Gainsborough). Why do they start so late? Some of us have to be up for work at 6 am on Monday, and have our brains in gear! Shame to miss it though. S:0) |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: 12string growler Date: 13 Dec 04 - 01:21 PM Brain in gear??? That'd make a nice change St Johnny (LOL) Chris |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: YorkshireYankee Date: 13 Dec 04 - 09:42 PM Sorry SJ – can't make it an afternoon sesh 'cos Jacqui & Kendall are taking the grandson to the Panto that afternoon (not sure when it ends). Will check with her & see if it can be moved up a bit earlier... keep an eye on the thread I mentioned above. Cheers – YY |

Subject: RE: Lincoln session? From: GUEST,jacqui.c Date: 14 Dec 04 - 12:07 PM I think the panto is a three hour job and should finish about 4.30pm. We should be on the road by 5.00pm but I think the journey time will be about two hours - plus I've never been in that part of the world so will need to find my way. I think that we could be there for 7.00pm if that's any better? |
