Want to know who wrote/recorded this song:

They say there's a tree in the forest, A tree that will give you a sign,. Come along with me, to the sweetheart tree, And write your neme next, to mind.

They say, if you kiss the right sweetheart. The one, you've been waiting for, Big blossoms of white, will burst into sight, And your love will be true, ever more.

All I can tell you is that it was written for the movie "The Great Race" starring Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood, and Jack Lemmon in the 60's.

I think Johnny Mercer may well be my favorite lyricist, even if he ain't folk.

The Sweetheart Tree
From "The Great Race"
Music by Henry Mancini, Lyrics by Johnny Mercer

They say there's a tree in the forest,
A tree that will give you a sign;
Come along with me, to the Sweetheart Tree,
Come and carve your name next to mine.

They say if you kiss the right sweetheart,
The one you've been waiting for,
Big blossoms of white will burst into sight
And your love will be true evermore.

Once again, I realize it's not a folk song but does anyone happen to know the chords to the song "The Sweetheart Tree" by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer, from The Great Race. Thanks. Jake
