Subject: RE: Folklore: 5th Beverley Northumbrian Pipers Weekend From: GUEST,Gedpipes Date: 19 Jan 05 - 02:29 PM I fear that with the projected demise of live music in Nellies I may have to cancel this event on 2nd April. For those of you who are interested last year there were about 80 people in Nellies with 25 pipers who came from as far afield as Kent, the Hebrides and Belgium. Any suggestions for an alternative venue in Beverley would be gratefully received. Cheers Ged |

Subject: RE: Folklore: 5th Beverley Northumbrian Pipers Weekend From: Paco Rabanne Date: 20 Jan 05 - 10:42 AM The Sun is the obvious choice surely? Nsp, a meandering squeaky path. |

Subject: RE: Folklore: 5th Beverley Northumbrian Pipers Weekend From: GUEST,janitor Date: 20 Jan 05 - 10:51 AM Thanks Guest it has to be in Beverley and the Sun is not a concert venue to take 80 people. |
|
Subject: RE: Folklore: 5th Beverley Northumbrian Pipers Weekend From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 20 Jan 05 - 11:28 AM Upstairs at Hodgsons might be viable - it could certainly hold 80 people. We held the folk club there during the folk festival. I'm sure that Shaun at the sun would be willing but as Janitor says it isn't really a concert venue. R |

Subject: RE: Folklore: 5th Beverley Northumbrian Pipers Weekend From: GUEST,Humphrey of Tadcaster Date: 21 Jan 05 - 03:30 AM Hodgsons sounds promising but for a bit of olde worlde ambience how about the Friary booze wise it would have to be a byo but its worth thinking about |
|
Subject: RE: Folklore: 5th Beverley Northumbrian Pipers Weekend From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 21 Jan 05 - 07:38 AM The Friary is a good idea. One of our locals (Roy) has booked it a couple of times for whole weekends - it has an added advantage of providing beds (admittedly in dormitories). Bringing in our own booze and food was not a problem. Ged - PM me for Roy's phone number if you want details of how it works. Rog |

Subject: RE: Folklore: 5th Beverley Northumbrian Pipers Weekend From: GUEST,Humphrey of Tadcaster Date: 21 Jan 05 - 04:11 PM I'd forgotten about the acommodation side of the Friary. Theres also the Minster Rooms in Minster yard When you think about it Beverley has quite a few potential venues other than that spot at the back of the Bus Station the name of which escapes me at the minute Funny that, someone mentioned the name of the place the other day |

Subject: RE: Folklore: 5th Beverley Northumbrian Pipers Weekend From: GUEST,Attilla of Tadcaster Date: 22 Jan 05 - 05:35 AM Silly Humphrey he's a muppett go large why not use the Minster itself as a venue Reverb true path |
