Subject: BS: Where do they make balloons?
From: *Laura*

Marmalade's from Scotland, rugs from pakistan
mexico has jumping beans and cars are from japan,
clowns are from the circus and barking comes from dogs,
eggs come from a chicken and log cabins come from logs
but where?
where do they make balloons?
where?
where do they make balloons?
new york has tall buildings, new jersey has its malls,
pisa has a leaning tower will it ever fall?
The ocean has the fishes, london has a tower,
in holland they have windmills lots of bikes and pretty flowers,
but where, where do they make balloons?
Spaghetti is from China but italiens make it best,
ants can make an anthill and monkeys make a mess,
hungary isnt hungry and french fries aren't from france,
turkey's aren't from turkey they can't fly but they can dance but where?
where do they make balloons?
Where?
Where do they make balloons?
where?
Where do they make balloons?

(an utterly pointless, completely quoted and unoriginal thread - i tried to warn you in the title but it wouldn't fit)

In the old balck and white movies they were made in the War Office. *clipped Oxbridge accent* 'The balloons just gone up old chap!'

I rather imagine it'll be somewhere in Asia. Very likely China.

I thought they were made in Parliament/Congress, so as to take advantage of all the hot air.

Subject: ADD: Rhode Island Is Famous For You
From: Joe Offer
Date: 05 Jan 05 - 09:03 PM

Hey, this doesn't have anything to do with balloons, but it seems to fit with the first message. I dedicate it to my wife and mother-in-law, who come from Rhode Island.
-Joe Offer-

RHODE ISLAND IS FAMOUS FOR YOU
words by Howard Dietz; music by Arthur Schwartz
© Chappell and Co., ASCAP

Every state has something its Rotary Club can boast of
Some product that the state produces the most of
Rhode Island is little, but oh my
It has a product anyone would buy

Copper comes from Arizona, peaches come from Georgia
And lobsters come from Maine
The wheat fields are the sweet fields of Nebraska
And Kansas gets bonanzas from its grain
Old whiskey comes from old Kentucky -- ain't the country lucky
New Jersey gives us glue
But you, you come from Rhode Island
And little old Rhode Island is famous for you

And cotton comes from Louisiana, gophers come from Montana
And spuds from Idaho
They plough land in the cow land of Missouri
Where most beef meant for roast beef seems to grow
Grand Canyons come from Colorado, gold comes from Nevada
Divorces also
But you, you come from Rhode Island
And little old Rhode Island is famous for you

Pencils come from Pennsylvania, vests from Vest Virginia
And tents from Tennessee
They know mink where they grow mink in Wyoming
But a camp chair in New Hampshire that's for me
And minnows come from Minnesota - coats come from Dakota
So why should you be blue
'Cause you, you come from Rhode Island
Don't let 'em knock Rhode Island
It's famous for you

I suppose the best-known recording of "Rhode Island" was by Blossom Dearie, but take a listen to this recording by the Uras Minors, an a cappella group from Rhode Island's Brown University.

13: EVERYONE'S GONE TO THE MOON 3:08
words and music by Mike Craver
©2002 Sapsucker Publishing, BMI

Everyone's gone to the moon
Nobody lives here anymore
The mailbox is empty, the eye never blinks
The doorman just sits in his corner and drinks
Since everyone's gone to the moon

Some people live on a star
They don't know how lucky they are
They stay in the clouds and they twinkle around
On magical carpets that never touch down
That's life, so they say, on a star

There was a world that once I knew
Shining in fields of morning dew
So green and sky so blue

Have you ever been to the sun?
I hear it's a whole lot of fun
There's no need for flashcubes and things like Texas Pete
It's really ideal all except for the heat
But I hear it's lonely in June
'Cause everyone's gone to the moon

Since no-one seems to know the answer,
I'd guess it's skunkworks in area 51.

There're all handmade by one guy in Wideawake, Saskatchewan. He thought he was applying for something else when he volunteered for a job with millions of blow jobs. He's a balloonatic.

silly - they grow them. Balloons are a vegatative growth on the spaghetti tree (Pasta viridis longifructem) that hold the developing strands of spaghetti off the ground. When the spaghetti ripens the balloons deflate - and are stripped off as part of the harvest process. For years they were merely chopped up and sold as confetti - but in the last century the technique of re-filling them (discovered by Giorgio "bladderbuster" Bravuro when he ran out of inflated pig bladders for a wedding celebration) has led to the marketing of them as decorative accents.

In a Balloonery of course.
or......
In Glasgow it was a common turn of phrase for a long time..."away ye go ya balloon ye".
Meaning bugger off you air head...so if a Balloon is to be taken in that context Balloons are made at Birth...and not just in Glasgow I must hastily add!
Take your pick *Laura*..:>)

Wish they weren't made anywhere 'cause I keep finding them in places like my favourite lake, river, shoreline, and woodland haunts. Can't be good for the wildlife I put far ahead of man's vanity and frivolity. Every time I see masses of ballons released into the air I shudder to think of the places I'll find the remains next.

Peace, Mooh.
