Subject: Lyr Req: lac saint clair From: GUEST,lyons Date: 18 Feb 05 - 11:29 AM This song is very local to Lake Saint Clair area: Michigan/Ontario. Was sung by my grandfather in early 1900s (and before?) The lyrics I remember are: "the wind he blow like a hurricane; the sou' wind she blow too" and "you can't be drowned on the Lac St. Claire, so long's you stay ashore" |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: lac saint clair From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 18 Feb 05 - 02:24 PM The song is "The Wood Scow Julie Plante," or "Julie Plante," of which there are several versions. One is printed in "Windjammers, Songs of the Great Lakes Sailors," with music and chords, pp. 157-158. The same words by Drummond are printed in thread 5095: Julie Plante Please go to that thread through the above link. |
