Pyramid Guitar Strings

I know these strings were popular (or at least used) in the '50s and '60s. Now they cost about four times as much and allegedly last four to ten times as long as mass-produced guitar strings. Are they as good as the hype?

Also, I read a suggestion for gold roundwounds, which I do not believe exist from that company.
