Subject: Review: Celtic Woman on Michigan Television From: frogprince Date: 13 Mar 05 - 11:51 PM I just stumbled, cold, unto this concert, which just ended. My first thought sitting down here was, what can I say that will begin to do justice to the performance these 5 young women just gave. Then I took a glance at the "you must leave now" thread, and there was this submission by Khandu, which says it all: If the ladies were blackbirds and the ladies were thrushes I'd lie there for hours in the chilly cold marshes. As a total experience, there were downsides. It was, of course, fund drive time: altar calls stretching to eternity, with the incentive "gift" offers repeated to painful death. More than a few moments made me wish to hear the ladies with a small fraction of the orchestral accompaniment; at worst they were almost buried in orchestral "production". And of course they had to go broadway for some selections. But, when it comes down to it, I think I might walk quite a ways uphill to hear them sing "Who let the dogs out" Those voices, and that violin, add up to flat dead wonderful. Dean. |

Subject: RE: Review: Celtic Woman on Michigan Television From: Mooh Date: 14 Mar 05 - 06:25 AM Glad you enjoyed it, but it was too airy-fairy for me. No edge. Maybe a lower dosage would suit me better. Can't deny its appeal, though it was a long way from a pub session. Rented "Ray" instead. Peace, Mooh. |
