Subject: BS: Happy Easter Monday From: GUEST Date: 28 Mar 05 - 05:09 PM It's not a holiday here in the US ~ those of us who enjoy a three-day weekend are more likely to get a day off or Good Friday than on Easter Monday ~ but I know that many of you across the pond are enjoying a day of leisure. Hope you're enjoying yourselves! Also, a moment of silent respect, please, in memory of the Irish partiots who began their successful fight for independence at the Dublin General Post Office on Easter Monday, 1916. |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter Monday From: GUEST,Liz the Squeak through the back door..... Date: 28 Mar 05 - 06:26 PM Re: the Easter Monday Uprising, because Easter is a moveable feast, it isn't necessarily the same Easter Monday, but the sentiments are. Belgium is closed on Easter Monday, except the bars.... (well, OK, that is about 75% of all buildings in Belgium) but it means there are no service stations open. Of course, being Belgian, they have a rather sensible 'feed your credit card in the slot and buy so many Euro's worth of petrol' machines at many service stations. Such a shame they don't take the majority of British or American credit cards.... Thank heaven they do ones with a cash machine - feed it Euro notes and it gives you the appropriate amount of petrol. Subject: RE: BS: Happy Easter Monday From: GUEST Date: 28 Mar 05 - 08:10 PM Easter Monday at our house (a clergy household) is where we say Christ is Risen indeed, but the Priest is Fallen..." from the rigors of extra Holy Week services and the intensity of ministry and worship at the end of a long and busy Lenten season... The day Hardi sleeps and sleeps and sleeps, and wakes up sometime in the afternoon wondering how come he's so tired! The day we give thanks that he was given the energy to get through it all, and that I had the energy to help where help was possible. Our Easter dinner was today, a nicely roasted chicken Hardi did up. Tomorrow is the replacement day off for the Friday he normally is off, but that is a busy work day on Good Friday. Bliss... and not a single phone call all day. ~Susan |
