Hi Banana Benders, from a "Mexican",

Hubby & I are spending Fri to Monday midday at the Gold Coast next weekend (15 - 18 April 05) and I was just wondering if you have any tips on where to look for music events or any art-y things of interest. We're renting a car as well so if it's in the general area we might be able to go a bit further afield.

Generally we'll listen to folky, bluesy, jazzy, world-y, retro, funky (the pre-noughties definition of "funky" that is) music, anything a little bit different. Are there any pubs worth visiting or any folk or blues events that weekend?

Any travel tips would be great - apart from "there are plenty of other places in Qld which would be better to go to than the Gold Coast!" - I already know that, thanks, but I have to go there for another reason so we are making a long weekend of it.
