Subject: RE: 5th Annual Northern California Folk Camp Out From: David Ingerson Date: 25 May 09 - 03:47 AM Your invitation is tempting. But it's a long way to drive from Portland for one day of singing. On the other hand, I started a similar singing weekend many years ago--and it's still going strong 25 years later (Singtime Frolics near Portland, last weekend in March)--and I like to support other similar efforts. Would it be worth it for me? How has it been going recently? Tell me more details. Make me want to be there! David |

Subject: RE: 5th Annual Northern California Folk Camp Out From: open mike Date: 27 May 09 - 05:42 PM I drove up to Rainy Camp a few years back... or was it called Sunny Camp? Mary Garvey's deal.... It would be great if Catters would attend this little camp out...it would be a good place to meet...west coast catters...who is up for this??!! this campground is an oasis...rustic and peaceful...with geese and other critters. A whole bunch of baby ducks were hatched a few days ago. There is an Emu and also other wild critters...a flock of turkeys often can be seen in the area. If you need more info about location, and directions, e-mail me at veraloe (at) gotsky (dot) com. Our focus/theme last year was U. Utah Phillips and we sang a lot of his songs in his memory. I think this year we should sing "For Pete's Sake" for Pete Seeger's birthday!! Laurel |

Subject: RE: 9th Annual Northern California Folk Camp Out From: open mike Date: 27 May 09 - 05:53 PM http://www.lakeconcowcampground.com/ Here is the new web site for the camp= ground which is named after the local tribe. The Concow tribe is in the Maidu family, related to the Yana and Yahi which were peaceful inhabitants of the Northern California area. Ishi, known as the "last wild indian" was from near here, and there are grinding rocks where the first people used to grind acorns to eat. We camp on the shores of a reservoir which was formed in 1926 by the Wilenor Dam. Most participants of our campout are from the local folk music society, but we have had people from Sacramento (hello--Joe--might you join us this time??) Santa Rosa--MichaelR-- and other places....always room for more!! Laurel |

Thru all kinds of weather. What if the sky should fall. Just as long as were together it doesn't matter at all.. |
