I came across this fascinating page about a communtiy in Mawphlang (on the old Assamese frontier) whose faith is Welsh Calvinist and they sing all the old hymns:

Nigel Jenkins, the Swansea poet, has written a book on this. Choirs from the area tour Wales from time to time - fantastic sound.
