Subject: RE: The Mermaid guitar sculpture From: SharonA Date: 16 Jun 05 - 07:06 PM Sure wish I could see and hear it! But alas, I'm on the wrong side of the pond for that... For the benefit of others in the same predicament, I've found more pictures of the Mermaid at Andy 's site, located here: www.andymanson.co.uk Click on the photo of the Mermaid, as prompted, to see lots of pix including views of the guitar case! At the end of the slide show, you'll be at www.andymanson.co.uk/mermaid.htm where you can click on the image at the top of the page to see still more photos plus a link to a page about materials used. The only things missing, IMO, are audio clips and photos of the guitar being played (to show how it must be held!). In the article Sorcha linked, Julie Ellison says, "I sit down to play her so she leans back into my shoulder and wraps her tail through and around my legs. As she's played the sound vibrates through her whole body, right down to the tips of her tail, which is quite a strange experience and means that I feel the sound as much as hear it." I'm having a hard time visualizing this, so I hope Andy will add to his website some pix of Ellison in concert! Wistfully, Sharon |

Subject: RE: The Mermaid guitar sculpture From: SharonA Date: 16 Jun 05 - 07:13 PM Oh, good grief! The filters on the public-library computer from which I'm posting will not let me post the word M.a.n.s.o.n.!!! (That's the reasong for the spaces in my previous post.) Arrrrgghh! (I'm getting mighty sick of the government's pseudo-parental controls...) |
