I went to Iceland and saw my first whale, a humpback. It was a great experience.

Years ago when I worked in the New York City Parks as an Urban Park Ranger I used to meet all sorts of interesting folks, including some competitive kite designers and flyers. They could knock your hat neatly off your head with the maneuverings of their strings and kites. They could do some damage if they hit you with the kite itself.

I spent my summer holiday visiting my grandparents who live about 4 hours away. I helped with all kinds of things around the house, took them out for gelatis, lots of visiting, and saw a video of my grandfather and his side of the family when he was 10 years old, taken by my very eccentric Uncle Morris who I never met but really wish I had (it seems he and I are very much alike). Yesterday morning, at just about this time, my Nana sat down to play the organ, I played my fiddle and my Pappy, reclined back in his chair with his feet over his heart for his hourly sit....sang the old gospel tunes softly to himself. I had a wonderful time and my heart is still smiling!

Well...start with a festival over the August Bank Holiday. Then 2 and a half weeks in America with a weekend at the Getaway...only 9 weeks to go and looking forward to it!!!!

We are giong to the Outer Banks in North Carolina for a week later this month. The twins will enjoy their first year as "walkers" by the ocean. Yikes!!!! I can't wait!!!!

Possibly the Getaway... too soon to know for sure yet.

But my son, while on a two month holiday in Europe, won as first prize in a body painting competition at a youth hostel in Switzerland (in celebration of Canada day), a free skydive over the Swiss Alps. (He had the good sense to not tell me about it until after he made the jump.)

I think I like this 'living vicariously through my kid' thing.
